I have been asked to build a website for a friend. I am a code writing geek for a living and I know I can bang out the html or go the long way and pound out some asp stuff with visual studio.
Is there any easier software out there that won't cost a fortune? Sounds like they will buy just about whatever I ask for. I know I don't want dreamweaver cause that is overpriced.

Or should I just write the thing?

if you like flash animation, i use Swishmax . . . easy to learn, easy to use, lots of support in their forum, www.swishzone.com (http://www.swishzone.com)

I use Dreamweaver, OP. Have for many years. Never did like Frontpage. When I need to do some simple HTML editing, I also use a program called 1st Page 2000 by Evrsoft. I don't think they make it anymore. I can send you a copy. The version I have is free.

Trip, I've been waiting for answers on this topic and following along. Is the program you are speeking of very easy to use?

Is it pretty much drag and drop type stuff like if you want a button drag this in and then type in where you want it to point to etc.

I built my website with a program from Comp USA that wasn't very good, and I had no clue how to built a website. Just wondering if there is something easier, or if you just gotta know more than I do to begin with?

Dan,

If you want to build a website, and would rather have a template, we just went to www.finalweb.com, and it was reasonable, and very user friendly.

Doug

The one I am working on will actually be pretty elaborate. It is for a friend's band and they have some pretty cool stuff in mind so I was hoping to save some time by using a program. I used Dreamweaver in college but I don't think I want to buy for this one website. I suppose I could use visualstudio.
