Techlusion TFi FI-2050ST
I have been reading a lot of posts IRT adding the TFi and am thinking abut the upgrade, but would like your inputs:
- Does the upgrade make much of a difference on a 09 NOMAD 1700 if i am running the standard pipes and air cleaner? - Does adding it effect the warranty? - How do you set the pots if you do not have a Tach? Thanks for any info. Dave |

Dave, Welcome to KawaNOW. I have one on my '07 and it made a world of difference, all positive. Are you experiencing pinging (clattering) when rolling the throttle, stumbling when upshifting from 1st to 2nd gear, fan kicking on when idling for just a minute or two at a traffic light? These are the things I was experiencing with mine still stock. The fuel processor solved all three problems. Still a little pinging in very hot weather running 91 octane but not even close to the extent it was before. The engine was starving for fuel and the processor feeds it a little more. As far as warranty goes, the dealer wanted to install a Power Commander on mine to stop the pinging. If they can install the PC not affecting warranty, I don't see any reason why the TFI would. But, I suppose they could try anything to prevent paying for repairs they could possibly blame on a modification. I have 3 1/2 yrs left on my extended warranty and have only used it once for a leaking pinion seal. Knock on wood.

I recently installed a TFI on my bone stock 08'. A big difference. I agree with those who say if there is only one mod you do to your Nomad, it should be a fuel management system. If you have been around engines a while, you should be able to hear the RPM range to set the pots. Its not an exact science. You can probably set pot 1 to the recommended setting and be very close. If the 1700 has a choke, using it usually gets the RPMs up to adjusting speed. A helper to control the throttle is helpful.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your input. I ride in south Texas and it is hot, so i was intrigued by the claims that the engine runs cooler. I do get some pinging when rolling on the throttle and upgrading to 91 octane doesn't seem to help so i think a fuel processor is needed. Thanks again for the info. Dave |
Did you get a processor for the bike and did it make any difference ?

2010 nomad stock got real hot real fast in hot weather
added dobeck fi2050st adjusted #1 pot @ 1800 rpm to best lean run & cooled it off really well later added chaps from the Canadian co. air-something and that helps too way to tell without guage just note how often the fan runs also check around the rad. heads. crank case with thermometer [infrared] I only use the #1 pot to richen the low end up to @ 3000 rpm and it does not take as much as recommended im set less than 1:00 @3/4 if to rich u get slight stumble off idle u can adjust as often as needed until its right their directions are easy to follow esp. if u are used to engine/fuel repair |
