I punched every thing out the same size as the front baffle suport. I also gutted the goat belly
I think it got a little louder and did not screw anything up.

I had done the same. I punched a hole and progressively made it larger. I think 2" was the final size.

I also had my goat belly replaced with pipes. A willing welder did it for $100, and still made it removeable.

The result is still not overly loud. At that point air can flow straight through the mufflers, but there is still LOTS of turbulance to distort the sound before it exits the muffler body.

You're gonna have a PhD in pipe reworking before you get done, Mr. Stephens.

When I bought my Nomad, it was my first V-twin after several 4-cylinders. I convinced myself I didn't need the louder pipes at first, then I rode along with my Harley-ridin' buddies, and couldn't hear my bike and didn't know when to shift. http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif
I was working as a machinist at the time, so I put myself to work doing all the free-ish mods I could to make a louder bike. ;)

You wouldn't by any chance have an audio byte or two of how your scoot sounds now would ya Mr. Stephens??

I don't have anything with the most current set up (screamin' eagle mufflers) My vid camera gave out a few months ago and I've never replaced it. :-[

I am imagining the Screamin Eagle Stock mufflers are quite a bit "quieter" than the aftermarket pipes you had on it?? Bet they sound sweeet!!
