Firstaid kits

I was thinking of a first aid kit to throw in my bags. After looking online at several kits I was wondering what everyong else had? A bought kit or a home made one and whats in them?

I carry a small kit that bought at like wally world.. Bandaids, gauze, tape, and other things. One thing I would like to find is some smaller flares or a good red strobe emegency light, something that can be seen if there is a a road side problem at night.

Keep it simple, 10-15 4X4 compress pads, some medical tape, 1 or 2 rolls of 3" kling, small bottle of disinfectant, a few band-aids and a pair of scissors in a ziplock bag... a small bottle of hand wash (alcohol based) for yourself.... more than that and you need an ambulance! All available at walmarts or similar store. My professional opinion, 27 years in EMS.

Sly pretty much covered everything. Maybe a small knife, tooth ache medicine and some material that could multiple use.

I'm a FF/medic and I also carry some stuff called "Wound Wash" which is pressurized saline. great for washing out gravel. Believe it or not, carry a bunch of Maxi Pads. Great field dressings for road rash. Put some rolled gauze and trauma shears in there also.

I carry a small first aid kit with the basics as others have stated. For a small strobe you could also check out marine stores. They usually sell a few different styles to attach to life jackets.

Agree a basic first aid kit is a good addition to the side bag. I carry old distress flares from my boat as well. Coast guard says "new every 30 months, so I always have ones that aren't USCG compliant. They work great as road side flares for emergency.
