Thinking of buying a 2005 Vulcan Nomad

Hi there! New to the forum but looking for input on a possible purchase of a 2005 Vulcan Nomad with 12000 miles on it, asking price $5500. Any concerns or problems with this particular model I should be aware of? Currently ride 750 Honda Shadow. Thanks for any advice, looking forward to your reponses.

Hello and welcome.
I had a 2005 Nomad.

Things to look for would be a noisy fuel pump (in the tank) and leaks from the water pump drain hose. If the tires are the originals they might be cracked and would need to be replaced. The originals were Bridgestones. Other than that check all the usual stuff, steering head bearings, fork seals and rear shocks for oil leaks, brake pads, etc.
Good luck.

Welcome from Northern California

I purchased an '05 earlier this year from a forum member here. It is a great bike and handles very well. It has helped me to stop missing my previous '08 Ultra Classic that I had to sell in the Spring of '10. With only 12,000 miles you will get many years of use out of the Nomad. Like redjay says make sure the tires are in good shape and just ride and enjoy the bike.

Post some pics if you buy the bike and good luck with the sale

Looks like it has a few add ons, Mustang seats and Vance and Hines pipes.

Chrome side covers, custom mirrors, handlebar risers, grips, highway pegs. Looks like it has lots of goodies. Very nice bike.

No, waiting to hear back from the owner to set up a time to go look at it.

Nice lookin' bike. FYI...these Vulcan 1500/1600 engines tend to have a noisy valve train. If you notice some clatter from the top end don't be alarmed. I almost didn't buy my '05 1600 Classic because of it but the good folks here on the forum insured me it was normal. That was 52,000 miles ago and it still runs GREAT!

I bought my 2005 Vulcan Classic in Feb of this year and I'm very glad I did. It's ans excellent bike! That 2005 Nomad looks great - if checks out mechanically I say go for it before someone else does.

Buy it. Drive to the store and buy some brew. Go in garage, pop a top, give self pat on the back, and enjoy.
