wiring help - all better now

I need to know the color of the wires for the tail light. Im going to use the tail light circuit as the trigger for my relay to power my radio. I looked in my service manual, but can't find any info on the tail light circuit.

Help!!

I believe it's red/blue. If you have a meter or test lamp, it would be the only wire in the taillight wiring harness that has voltage after turning the key to "on".

Solid red, under the seat. Where will the relay be?

You won't want radio with the keys in your pocket, and the ignition locked?

Yep, solid red. I finally found the schematic that showed it in the very back of the service manual, although it was kinda tough with a a b/w page, but oh well.

The relay is mounted under the left side cover, attached to the plastic back part that holds the tool kit.

No, I don't want radio on with the ignition off, too much for me to forget to turn off and end up with a dead battery.

Are the accessory connections under the seat supposed to be always hot? or only with the switch? One of mine only has power with the switch on, and the other has no power at all. I was under the impression (cause it says so in the MOM) that the accessory connection was always hot, regardless of the switch. I was going to use it for the constant power for the radio memory, and also for a 12v lighter plug in the fairing.

I'm thinking now that I may just run a dedticated line for the memory/lighter plug. If I do that, I would like to have the plug have the ability to power a small compressor like the slime top off. Does anyone know how many amps the compressor would pull?

The white / blue is ALWAYS hot.... The black/ yellow is always ground.

Don't be stikin things in the all yellow wire there... Its a diagnostics wire. So far as i know there are no more wires there not in use.

I don't know that compressor, so i can comment any.

I had it wired to the white/blue...but I found the problem. I wired everything up based on the labels that were on the wiring harness that came with the radio, well, the labels were wrong. The switched power and constant power were mixed up, once I fixed that, everything works as it should.
