Motorcycle Jack...

I know a lot of you use the motorcycle jack from Harbor Freight that they sell for $100 ( http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...lift-2792.html ). I'm wondering if any of you have used this lift ( http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...ift-99887.html ).

Looks like it would be a pretty good tool to have. It will hold up to 1100 pounds and has a max height of 30", where the other lift only goes up to 16". Of course, I'd have to get Idaho's adapter also. And just for future reference, does the jack adapter work with the new Vaqueros? I will eventually upgrade my Nomad for one and if I'm going to get an adapter, I'd like it to fit the next bike too. Does the Vaquero even need the adapter? I guess I could always sell it if I don't need it anymore.

1100 lbs is not much and it's more expensive than a 1500 lb lift.

Me I wouldn't buy it.

I got this one last weekend when it was $84, seems like a pretty nice jack.

Get the Sears red or HF yellow. Like Bob said, all that extra crap on the HF red one will get in your way. Sometimes you can find the HF yellow on sale for $60 with $6 shipping. The Sears one that Hacksaw got looks to have better wheels than the HF yellow but still about the same jack.

I bought one when I had my 900. The lift swings out from the frame as it goes up making it hard to center the bike and raise the lift without tipping or banging the lift into the bike. To fix that I bolted a couple of pieces 2x4 to the lift bars that ran parallel to the frame rails off the bike. The bike now sets almost flat when the lift is under it and when you raise it up the bike tires leave the ground at the same time the lift starts up and out. I left the bike on the stand for over 2 weeks in the raised position with no problems.
This lift is a much heavier construction then the yellow one.

The regular bike jacks can be usually be found on sale for about $69.00 at most places, time to time.

Thanks for the replies! I was just curious. I'm going to Harbor Freight on Friday, so I'll look over their jacks when I'm there. I can't see spending twice the money on a jack that will "basically" do the same thing.

I dunno about the Craftsman, but the Harbor Freight jack is a bit scary when trying to SLOWLY lower the bike. I don't like having to pass through the "fast" setting to get to the "slow" setting.

There are 2 settings? Grab hold of the handlebars to steady it and push on the pedal. It goes down fast but it's not uncontrollable. If you keep it level until the tires hit the ground, you don't beat up any hard parts (like the kickstand). I've had my Nomad on and off my HF yellow probably 1000 times and it's always gone well.

I'm with Kedosto on this one. I used the HF yellow jack once on my Nomad, had to drive it up on boards to get the jack under the adapter and lowering it was truly uncomfortable. I am ready to sell mine, if I can find a local sucker. I will not use it again.

I have a good hydraulic lift and an adapter but I use the scissor jack for most of my work. It is adjustable and micro-controllable up or down.
