Stuttering
07 1600 Meanstreak, stock. Garaged for many years, tank cleaned and re-lined, fluids changed, battery/plugs/air filter/fuel filter replaced. Hard start, stutters when idle and riding. Getting some fire up through throttle body after putting in correct plugs due to front cylinder fouling. Injectors, fuel pump/filter probs?

Front cylinder plugs fouled and replaced, Seafoam and octane booster added to tank to rule out bad gas. With throttle body cover off and butterflies open can see flame come from cylinder when cranking.

How could it jump timing? Ran well up until a cpl days ago. Forgot to mention that I had sprayed some throttle cleaner into throttle bodies with engine off then cranked it. Acts like it’s not getting enough fuel on front cylinder. Planning to test/remove/clean injectors and pressure regulator screen and go from there.

It could jump timing if you sprayed some throttle cleaner into the throttle bodies and then cranked it. It's the most likely explanation for getting some fire up through throttle body, rough idle and poor running.
The throttle cleaner could be so volatile that it self detonated during compression so soon it forced the piston backwards when you cranked it. Did it lock up or kick the starter off? All it needs is to be one tooth off on a cam or the crank. Do a compression test front and and rear and compare. I hope it's not this, it's fixable but a lot of work. |
