Shark Radio..............

Anyone have one of these? How's YOUR customer support?

I got one and its been on my bike about a week. Its cutting out and I have traced the issue back the power cord where it plugs into the amp. Its very loose and the plug has a lot of play in it. If I touch it, the amp shuts off. So its gotta be my issue.

So I mailed up ol shark and they told me I had 2 choice's. Ship it back to get it repaired. (How long that will take who knows) and other choice is buy another amp for $25.00 shipped. Wait, I JUST BOUGHT THIS ONE HELLOOO. What happened to oh im sorry send it back and ill send you out a brand new one!!!

I have had it a week and a half...UGHH ok im done. Ill get it fixed then wont buy anything else from them. Should have went with another brand I suppose.

Any similar issues??

I would tell them,
"No I am not buying another amp, you are sending me a new amp free and I am returning the one that quit working after a week and a half as this is a quality control issue on your end. If this is not agreeable to you then I will bad mouth your company on every motorcycle forum I'm on and tell everyone I meet in person how bad your customer support is."
What do you have to loose

Sorry to hear of your Shark problem. I had similar problems and it was a PAIN IN THE ASS to get a refund from them. Apparently they send out a lot of bad units. If you used Paypal, just file a claim - their "customer service" is no better than the junk they sell.

Ill give them a day to see what they do for me. I did buy using my pay pal and will open a dispute if not resolved.

All I want is an AMP that works lol. Guess that too much to ask.

My moms having a similar problem except its at the RCA plugs, pull them one way it works, the other they don't. I'm just going to end up re-sodering it myself. As that will be less hassle than dealing with shark. I had a shark and a boss system, in the end i just built myself a reckless fairing and I'm much happier with that.

I had terrible support from Shark. First unit didn't have a power cable, waited a week to get a new one (wrong type), then waited another week to get the correct cable. Then the unit was defective. I eventually returned the kit and went with the Boss Audio 600w kit. Much happier with the unit, installation, and quality.

Each time I emailed them, they were less than happy to comply. They wouldn't send package any faster than normal shipping even though they screwed up each time. They offered to "let me buy a new unit" as well. I asked her if this one was still under the 1 year warranty that it came with. She didn't really have an answer.

I don't recommend the Shark unit to anyone. Their customer service sucks. Some people have no problems, I have nothing but problems. Oh well. I moved on and was a lot happier with the Boss kit anyways.

I will put on my flame suit here. I have installed the Shark system on 5 motorcycles without a single problem with the 250w set. The bracket and speakers for the 100w set were poorly made and cracked. I guess I was just lucky. The sound is ok. Definitely better than nothing. I compared it to a $900 Harley set up side by side playing the same song. The Harley definitely sounded better at higher volume but not $800 better.

The radio I have never used. I always just plugged in the I-pod.

My 2 cents
Ra

No flame suit needed, IMO. My roommate has the 1000w kit and it has been great for him. One of my members has the 100w handlebar kit and it's been great for her.

I can understand tech issues, even problems with parts. I can't, however, stand a company not fixing the screw up. Had they handled the situation better, I would have gotten a new system, no harm - no foul. It was their customer service I had a real problem with.

Just an FYI I have already posted in other threads.

If you just want an Amp to drive speakers and use an MP3 player for the source, you can buy this little digital 50w x 50w amp directly from the Mfg in China - the TPA3116. It is cheap ($17 + s/h), versatile, and my buddy swears they are very good quality. He has built a lot of mini-systems with them. It is a bit bigger than... let's say Marlboro 100s in a box... if I recall from my smoking days...

So you have to build a box for it, and if you want to get the amp running full power, you really need to bump up the input voltage to 20v, but for a little bit of work and just a few bucks, this thing should be able to stomp a Shark.
