POG

Could someone tell me what a POG is? What happens when it goes bad? When should I worry about it?

I have 27,000 miles on my '05. I am about to change tires again so it will be in the shop soon. Should I worry about this thing now?

Thanks
Hollywood

POG

No you have a 2005 bike so you don't have a POG.
Plastic Oil Gear. Yours is made of steel so not going to break like the plastic ones did.
the plastic ones were only on the first year of production if I remember correctly. That was 1999.

POG

If you have an 05, you have nothing to worry about.
The POG is a Plastic Oil Gear that was used on many Vulcans in the 90s. They had sort of a hit and miss failure rate up until the Nomad, which documented the highest number of failures. All Nomads went to a steel oil gear in 2000, so rest easy. It doesn't touch you.
