Putting the Pin Back In the Driveshaft

I have disassembled the bike and removed the rear wheel and the swing arm. The needle bearings do not look at all dry at 17500 miles. But, the transmission end driveshaft splines look very dry. I am about to pull the driveshaft back while depressing that small pin. A question suddenly popped into my head.

HOW DOES THE PIN GO BACK IN?

Neither Gadget's or Mac's writeups mentions that. So before I pop it can someone fill me in?

No sweaty palms no not me :-/

The pin slides into the splined shaft and you need to depress it as you slide the yoke over it. Once the hole in the yoke passes over the pin, spring pressure forces the pin into the hole. This locks the yoke in place on the splined shaft.

Thanks Scott. I figured it was something like that but it's the first time and that eases the process like a couple of tums. ;)

What holds that pin up us a flat spring, coiled in almost one whole loop. Make sure the ends of that spring ARE NOT LINED UP with the pin, or pin hole!

Don't forget to grease the wheel spline! I am seeing wheel splines not getting greased with TIRE Changes!
