no clutch

Tim has a 99 nomad He removed the clutch to jog it .He removed the clutch basket all at one time When he put it back together the engine and gear are fine but has no clutch. He put the basket and friction plates in all at one time to my understanding. He said he put grease on the torque springs and they should be in there right He said it will go in gear but the lever is hard and when he lets the lever out it dies. When I did mine I took and put it back a piece at a time.Any help would be appreciated He is suppose to be signing up here soon Thanks
