2016 Regional Rally

Well, the after glow of the national is about wore off, so it is time to start discussing the 2016 SE Regional Rally. While at the national in June, I talked with some of the members in attendance. We discussed possible sites. Helen, GA was suggested.

We had a spring ride there a few years back and had the Hampton Inn as our host hotel. It offered under hotel parking and a nice area out by the creek to hang out. The draw of this area is that some of the best roads in N GA, W NC and SE TN are within easy reach. Plus restaurants and places for adult beverages are within easy walking distance of the hotel. We will set up self-guided routes for everyone but group rides can happen.

As far a a date, we are in discussion phase on the Admin board about how we will space out the regional rallies to allow riders to attend multiple regional rallies next summer. I am lobbying for a mid-June date for us. What I need to know is should it be a mid week (Tues-Fri) or weekend (Thurs-Sun) rally.

If you have an opinion, on date or site, please post here. I want to make this a group effort.

Hey Ron, count me in. I had to cancel on this years National (a last minute thing). I really hated missing it. I did Elkins, WV last year and would be interested in another group meet next year. Anytime the end of May, first of June would work for me. Just remember that it does get rather warm and humid in June. I did get to go the mountains in western NC, northern Ga this year. I went in the last week of June and it was hot and humid.

Robert, it is hot and humid down here from about April till November, so the mountains will be a heckofalot better than sea level in June, lol.

Our American Legion Romp is the first weekend in June other that I am good with any other week in June I vote for Tues to Fri with travel time of the weekends for those who are traveling to get for the 2016 SE Rally

You can count me & Diana in too, but it will have to be after May, 'cause May 27 will be the last day of school for Diana. Other than that I'm flexible as to when. I really do like the Helen, GA area for the same reasons you pointed out.
Robert........... any where in our region is going to be hot & humid, but usually up in Helen, it's not so bad.

Just let me the dates as soon as it is arranged so I can put my vacation early. Any dates you guys pick will work for me. And yes, I agree that it's hot and humid anywhere in the US. Looking forward to meeting everyone again and hopefully some new friends as well.

If you need any local assistance or recommendations for venues let me know. Helen is about 1:15 away from me and we spend quite a bit of time there. If anyone is camping, Unicoi State Park in Helen is about the best in GA.

If I can get off work Wife and I will try to make it. Last rally I got to come to was the Maggie Valley National. Only week i probably cant make it would be first week in May I have training every year on that week.

Sounds interesting and I will be keeping a eye on this. As far as the heat and humidity it can't be any worse than Eureka Springs this year.

Actually, It was a little warmer and more humid here at home (about 84 miles SW of Helen) than it was while we were in Eureka Springs, but I did feel right at home while in Eureka Springs

Discussion on the Admin board is that the South Central group is having their rally week of June 13-18. I want to suggest the week of June 20 for our rally. Do we want mid week (Tuesday through Thursday) or weekend (Friday through Sunday)?

I vote Tuesday - Thursday that way the weekend locals would not be on the roads just a thought
