Death wobble and the dark side?

I have wondered a lot about this too.
I think the analogy of the shopping cart wheel best describes the phenomenon. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_wobble)

I have only read of one two-up wobble, the rest were solo, so I have another question for those who have wobbled.

Did you have any modification or loads that would have changed the front-to-back load distribution such as fairings, trunks or heavily packed saddle bags?
