Battery minding

Just a quick question for the forum, I've read a few threads about putting our bikes away for the winter [yeah it sucks] and some mention about putting on the battery minders with the batteries still in the bike. Those that do it in cold storage [meaning outside sheds], I was wondering how cold it gets where you are. I was thinking about doing the same thing this year but have my doubts because it's not uncommon to get some pretty cold temperatures up here, last year we maxed out at -38 Celsius which is pretty much the same as -38 Fahrenheit. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

A Walmart Shumaker battery tender will keep my battery fresh all winter in my unheated garage.
It gets down to -25 F here at times.

I have mine in the unheated garage in Ottawa, I use the CTEK battery tender and never had a problem yet, I never take the battery out as you never know when those mid winters warm spells will happen.

A well charged battery will not freeze, it doesn't in your car when you leave it out.
Keeping it on a tender or charging it once a month and it will do fine in those temps.
I have the same type of low temps where I keep my snow machines and the batteries which are pretty much the same size do just fine without constant charging.

I don't do anything with my bike battery over the winter, I usually start it up once or twice on a nicer day over the winter and let it run for a few minutes.
I park it in the garage, but If I was to leave it in the shed I may pull the battery out and leave it in the basement if I was worried about it. Most likely I'd just leave it alone.
