school me on shock bushings!

I blew my right shock the other day on my vaquero so I'm replacing with Gabriel sky jackers. I've searched everywhere to find my answers to no avail.

Some say to drill the bushings in the new shocks, others say to replace. My question is do I use the stock sleeves? What do I replace the top bushing with that has the needle bearings?

If I'm not using the bearings how do I determine what I need to do?

The whole thing seems really simplistic but I'm sure I'm missing something.
