EJK / Thunder Air Intake / Install Help

Hi all, I just ordered an EJK (Gen 3) and a Thunder Manufacturing Tornado for my Vaquero. My question and I think Ive seen an answer somewhere here but cant locate the post. Once I install the EJK and the new air intake, what do I do with the left side under the OEM cover where the actual air filter sits? Can I simply remove the filter and replace the the cover? I didnt purchase the additional insert cover for the left side that most members seem to buy.

any help on the install would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ron

You can remove the left side filter and replace the stock cover, or remove the left side assembly completely and not buy an "additional insert cover".

+1 on what Redjay said. I left the cover on to retain the balanced look of the stock dogbowls on both sides of the motor.

If you have any questions on the EJK dont hesitate to ask me. I have a bit of experience with it.

I agree with Ken and Redjay and also like the look of the 'dog bowls',.... sym-metric-al, clean and balanced looking and the price is right! Cheers

Don't want to jack the original post but is there a "air filter kit" that will let you keep the original Vaquero air filter covers on both sides, to look stock??

Chuckster and Thunder Manufacturing both make an air filter kit that use the stock covers.

I kept the left side on, but cut away most of the plastic cross over tube, Looks stock, but figure any extra air flow around the cylinders can't hurt,

I found that info by looking at others signatures, sent e-mail to Chuckster but have not heard back yet on how to buy.

I am a big fan of Chucksters, had his dual plate on my 1500 and now his intake on my Vaq. Keeps the stock look with a free flowing stealth right side intake.
Here's his site to order and for contact info if you've only sent a message through the forum.

Its a great BAK I am very happy with it. The installation could not be any simpler. Took me about 40 minutes and its because I took my time.

I put a small air horn under the left side. It muffled the horn a bit but was way louder than stock.

I put on a Thunder chrome left side engine cover with engraved lines. It looks great and nicely fills the void left from the stock removal. It also allows more air to flow through the motor on that side on the hot days a good thing. I have the Roaring Toyz big air on the right.
