These are 12" with stock risers on my 01, just for height reference. Keep in mine, I'm 6'6"

I was looking to install ape hangers too. I took my que from Jared and went with the Santee bars. I love them! I'm 6'2" as well. About 1 hour into a ride I would start to feel fatigue in my upper back and my hands would start to go numb. Not after I put these bars on! The nice thing is that you can rotate them back if you want them closer to you. The angle of the grip gives you a pretty good amount of adjustment.

And don't be afraid to run the wires internally! Jared did a great job of illustating how to do the job. It's time consuming, but the bars look so much cleaner that I think it was definatily worth it.

Good luck and let us know what you think of them when you get them on.

I'm putting a set on a 02 1500 and I found the grips hang off the bar ends well over an inch not sure how I'm going to deal with that issue and with the 1500 all my cables are too short

My grips hung off about an inch as well. So far, there seems to be no problem.

This is a very old thread... Jared has shut his Utahmotorcyclist website down. Click here to see his YouTube videos.

Jared sold that bike long ago, and it's been on-sold again I believe.

I don't have the link but this is a link to where I put some apes on my Honda Shadow. Hope it helps.

http://home.insightbb.com/~kpmh.005/...-Headwinds.htm

I did the same to my '06 Nomad but never posted it on my web site but do have pictures. If you'd like some, pm me. I'll send you them.

Pete

Where I got my steel braided cables.

This is the exact same setup that I installed on my 2001 Nomad.

It's still up on the web somewhere. Just not paying for the hosting and domain any longer. Utahmotorcyclist.blogspot.com
