2008 Nomad vs 2010 Nomad

Hello all was originally looking at a Vaquero when i first joined, didn't happen now looking at the Nomad. New wifey prefers Nomad over Vaquero. Really not a big deal for me, upgrading from a 900 boulevard. I have two bikes I am eyeing. 2008 around 8k in miles, mustang seat, v & h pipes, fuel pak, light bar and a little bit of chrome add ons $5k vs 2010 mostly stock 7K in miles, no light bar, $5.5K. Price wise they are within $500 of each other. I know some of the basic differences of the bike. 1600 vs 1700, shaft vs belt etc... I was also looking at Ivans ECU flash, available only starting in 2009(change to 1700) What are your opinions? Both are in great shape, i feel price is right on point. Scratching my head on what to do. Help me shed some light!!!

How about a 2014 Nomad, light bar, new tires, already Ivanized, Airlite crash bar chaps, Grasshopper backrest for $5500? Fly in, ride home.

I would go with the 1700. I had a 1500 ( almost the same as a 1600). Belt drive on the 1700s is less work than the shaft drives. But a 1600 will not need to be Ivanized.

Better yet 2014 from Monkeyman, Fly in and drive home. I like it.

Greetings,
*I* would get the 1700. IVANize that girl. The 1500/1600's were great machines. (Have had 2 of them). However, the 1700 Nomad (1) and the Vaq (2) were more enjoyable. Especially after IVANizing the two VAQs really came to life. The V&H slip-ons or the Cobra Tri-Oval sound really good. Felt like the 1700 handled better, were more 'solid' at sustained highway speeds...

As stated, if you get the Nomad from MonkeyMan, you get the benefit of a two day, glorious get to know you ride and beautiful country ta boot.

Ride safe,
Smokier

1700 has cruise control, and 6 speeds
Kact/abs brakes at least on a 2014 (2010 may not).
It handle better especially at low speeds.
Has more power than a 1600.
Chris's has been Ivanized also. Thats a $400 value.
I had both a 1600 Nomad and a 1700 Voyager at the same time. Wasn't sure I would like the 1700. After one season Sold the 1600. The 1700 was such a upgrade.

Thanks guys! Now, since Ivan is going away for a month, gives me time to put all the goodies together and then his flash. Pipes, air kit etc... etc...
