Concealed Carry on Bike

I used to belong, but I got tired of them calling me up to hit me up for more money all the time. If they need the money, then raise the dues, but to keep coming back to the trough just pisses me off.

I can understand how that would pi$$ you off ponch. I still think every gun owner should be a member.
You can call and get your name on the national no call registry. It takes about 2 min. I am on it.
OK, off the soap box now

I am a firm believer in the fact that the ONLY thing that keeps this country's second amendment alive is THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION. If after reading the above posts on gun control in Canada , and you are a gun owner, you don't join the NRA , ........well I think you don't deserve to be a gun owner.
Join today and help protect your right to own a fire arm or don't cry when they knock on your door and take your guns away.
Guns ?? What guns ?? I dont got no guns in here...sold em all years ago. Oh, and the couple I had left were stolen, yessir remember that break in we had waaaaay back, I just forgot to list em on the report.......Thanks guys, ya'll come back now and good luck rounding up all those weapons.

I own shotguns and 9mm and have CCW permit, but I'm not a member of NRA. I obviously support the right to keep and bear arms, but within reason. I can't think of any reason to permit automatic assualt rifles in the hands of reasonble citizens. If the NRA wasn't so radical they would get a lot more support, but they come off as extremists. I personally think the leader of the NRA is a bit wacko and on a power trip. My opinion.

That is the same thinking people have here about handguns, However reasonable people aren't the problem, crooks are, and they don't care about the laws. I understand what your saying , but if you give in to them on that basis they then move on to the next agenda, such as banning semi automatic rifles, then pump action etc etc. Eventually law abiding citizens will lose all their rights and the crooks will have a field day. This is why sometimes it seems a little radical when you hear all the rantings of the NRA but the honest people shouldn't have to lose their rights. The lawmakers should deal with the real problem and make it known that using a gun in a crime won't be tolerated.

And because I'm a law-abiding citizen that has never been in any kind of trouble and has always had weapons and has always demonstrated that I conduct myself properly, I can't imagine why I shouldn't be able to have automatic assult rifles if I wanted them...

Well with this post I just gotta ask, how the he11 do you support the right to keep and bear arms? You think by owning them that you support it?
When you are handing your 9mm and shotgun out the front door to the goverment official sent to take them just say, "But sir, I support the right to keep and bear arms." ;) See how fer that gets you.
If you think the NRA is radical read some of the anti gun material out there.

Concealed Carry on Bike

Going back to the post about a law abiding gun owner getting killed because of all the safe practices. I have one gun safe with most of my high powered rifles. However, there are a few hidden weapons throughout the house with a couple of extra mags beside them. For example, the wife has her Glock 23 with 2 mags and a tactical rem. 870 with a top folding stock and an 18in barrel 6+1 and 5 on the rack. Thats 12 slug rounds! Its on her side of the bed. I have my Class 3 M4 Carbine with 2 30rd mags and my Sig P229 with 2 extra mags on my side of the bed. We have both practiced on two-man stack in the middle of the night through our house. She also knows how many steps walking and crawling to the front and rear doors. Call me a gun nut but I don't wanna be a statistic. Some of the other toys I have is a M1A full sythetic with a 9x50 leupold, paratrooper model SKS, Rem 700 in 308 with anther leupold, Beretta 96, beretta 92, The Judge, Taurus 1911B, Ruger P85, and a Weatherby 243. I've also been to the Special Forces Sniper School in Ft Campbell, KY (SOTIC = Special Operations Target Interdiction Course) and Department of the Army Sniper School in Ft Benning, GA thanks to the Army.

This was an e-mail sent to me by a friend I thought interesting:

Now for those of you who support gun rights this will be informative. For those of you who support gun bans, read it carefully and bear in mind while reading it that most of those listed below where thinking the same thing you are while reading this, "That could never happen here.

"

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.

From 1929 to 1953, about
20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.

------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.

5 million
Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

---------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13
million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up
and exterminated

------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935.

From 1948 to 1952, 20 million
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.

----------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964.

From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan
Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970.

From 1971 to 1979, 300,000
Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956.

From 1975 to 1977, one million
'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.

-----------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because
of gun control: 56 million.

------------------------------
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new
law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million
dollars.

The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide,homicides are up 3.

2 percent

Australia-wide,assaults are up 8.

6 percent

Australia-wide,armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent.

Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed
robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12
months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
ELDERLY.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety
has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
successfully ridding Australian society of guns.

The Australian experience
and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians
disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of
this history lesson.

With Guns...........We Are 'Citizens'.

Without Them........We Are 'Subjects'.

During W. W. II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew
most Americans were ARMED!

Note: Admiral Yamamoto who crafted the attack on Pearl Harbor had attended
Harvard U 1919-1921 & was Naval Attaché to the U. S. 1925-28.

Most of our
Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor & our Army had been deprived of funding &
was ill prepared to defend the country.

It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor
attack with an invasion of the U. S.

Mainland, his reply was that he had
lived in the U. S. & knew that almost all households had guns.

If you value your freedom, Please spread this anti-gun control message to
all your friends!

I think it is a bit of a leap to assert that gun control laws led to the extermination of millions of people. I am sure that it contributed to the control that these governments had over their populations, but it did not cause it. For instance, even if the Jews were armed, consider what they would have been up against. An 8mm vs. a Panzer is a mismatch. I do believe an armed populace will keep a somewhat normal and moral government in check, but if you have a lunatic, it doesn't matter much. I kind of like this quote, which I think rightly applies to today:

--
"To make a contented slave it is necessary to make a thoughtless one. It is necessary to darken the moral and mental vision and, as far as possible, to annihilate the power of reason."

Frederick Douglass

Amen brother Douglass.

I am, but since they already had my number...they use it. Even to this day, and I have not been a member for a 2-3 years.
