I ordered a bracket kit, solo rack, the lower fender extension and some other small items from Babbitsonline.com. the strut covers i found on ebay for $100, everything i ordered from babbits after shipping was $598.
I also found a 250 mile oem seat on ebay for $90.

I converted my 2009, was relatively easy. Lots of ebay parts. I eventually went back to stock setup because of comfort, but I loved the sporty look w/o the tour pack. I love the look of the Vaquero, but I also like chrome. I'm going to try and post some pics. My first try at that so here goes.

mac52, Your bike looks great. How about a few more shots, especially the rear where you took off the tourpak?

It looks pretty darn good! I too love the chrome look and wonder when Kawi will offer a Vaq with a chromed out engine.

Mac, I think it looks great! I'm going a little further using Vaquero strut covers and the fender extension. I had to order a few more parts but I have the strut covers all trimmed out and fit nicely.

Getting closer

Well, i'm getting closer. I finished all the trimming, fitting and fabricating on the trim panels today. the holes are in the strut covers to mount the KQR solo rack that will hold the trunk (that has to be done yet). I dropped off the strut covers and the fender extension at the body shop this afternoon and will have them back by Monday.

I was going to do the paint work myself but the bike is painted with waterborne paint and since I'm not a repair facility certified to spray it - the paint shop can not sell me the paint and there is no formula in automotive paint like PPG. Just as well. It will be a professional job - all for the better.

I'll put a bunch of pictures on a photobucket page next week when it's all done.

The trunk will be mounted to a steel plate and that will mount to the brackets of the KQR solo rack. the rack itself will not be used I'll cut the harness and splice a plug for the trunk lights so it can be a quick release set up. The Kawasaki Quick Release set up will allow me to pop the trunk on and off in just a few seconds anytime I need to use the trunk. I'll be able to pop the original seat back on if need be too.
