Charlie....I assume you got black...leather or vinyl? Solo or both? Can you tell us how the black color compares to the stock black seat?

I was thinking about ordering just the driver and was wondering if the black colors look similar.

Not Charlie here, but I just pulled the stock backrest out and took a look at it side by side with the seat. I got the black vinyl from Russell, and there is a color difference. It is very close, but the Russell black seems to be a bit lighter than the Kawi black, maybe a bit less gloss to it too. It is a very close match to the HD backrest I have on the Tour Pak though. Seat to stock backrest likely not too noticeable, driver to passenger may show quite a bit.

I check the Russell site because I recalled something about this though:

"Solo Price on a two-piece seat pan includes recover of rear seat. If you send the front only , it is a S-1 price code."

Just sending the driver seat saves about $95 I guess. I would go with getting it recovered if it was me.

Glad to hear about the "Russell Day Long Seat" I checked out their web site. They will even do drop in one day service if you happen to be in Northern Ca. Shasta Lake area ( by appointment ) and addtional fee of course. . All things considered their prices are reasonable for what you get ! here is their site http://www.day-long.com/index.html DJ

I got the leather cover with the half moon stitching. I'll have to take a look and compare the color. I got the rain cover that you can use while you ride, but I rode in quite a rain from Pueblo into New Mexico and things are fine. I also paid extra for the husky boy suspension. And when I had em ship it fast to Custer they only charged me about half of what I thought I'd agreed to pay. AND, I can do 500 mile days now and only stop for gas or to eat. I actually ran my tank down to where I had to put in 5 gallons of fuel in one run.

Half way home to California I was starting to think about Charlie's Day Long seat! He did say that he sits a lot taller in the saddle than before so if your tall you might sit high enough after the seat install that you could be hit with more wind. Just a thought.

Private Jets and personal Yachts "rock" too, but I guess I won't be getting them for the same reason. I would like to say it's the mildew, but no, it is just too much coin for me. But I don't enjoy the long interstate riding anyway. I like the back roads and all the scenery and stops they provide.

Recieved my day-long today . We put about 70 miles on it tonight . My first thought as soon as we hit the highway was, this is going to be great . We both realy like it . If it gets better after it gets broke in this is going to be a fantastic seat . It took me awhile to spend that much but if it gets better it will be worth it .
