what's behind the name "VULCAN"

Used to be a hot rod club out west called the Vulcans. Their club logo was a hammer smacking an anvil.

I've been to Birmingham AND have been to that statue. I think it was 2005 we had a Vulcan forum reunion in Birmingham, while there we visited the above site, as well as 29 dreams and the Barber Motorcycle Museum, which i recomend to everyone.
