Sounds like you're getting after it. That sounds like a lot of work in a short period of time. Keep it up though, you'll get her running like a champ in no time.

I'm not sure what you're hearing or experiencing with the lurching and clunking. I haven't had anything like that pop up on me. I'm guessing something that wasn't tightened up all the way? I think you'll find the c/t will get better once you put some miles on it. You might try dropping the psi down to 36-38 instead of 40. It isn't a major drop, but it may help settle it down some. I do find that mine will track on certain roads when I get into some ruts or low points. But, 99.999% of the time, it handles like a dream.

Obviously start with everything you took off to replace the tire.

For me, if mine made a noise like that... I would be looking at the swingarm mount and bushings. Also you had to take the caliper off, if thats not secure it can move slightly.

Basically I would be looking from the suspension angle rather then powertrain. Even though it's most pronounced when flucuating the throttle you are also moving the center of gravity front to back quite a bit.

No car tire here although pretty middle of the road about their use.

w00t! Ordered my RACNRAY avon grips and some 10" apes, my bully is giving me issues but I have been working with Gman on it and my RM fairing is being made as we speak. I cannot WAIT for about 2 months from now!

Oh and the lurching and clunking will HOPEFULLY be fixed by the throttle mod, it seems that was one thing it fixed in all the posts at the other forums.

So 12" apes I bought at JP didn't work out so I sent them back, ordered some dresser apes today off ebay, fingers crossed that they are as nice as the picture shows. Reckless fairing should be in sometime in the next 2 weeks and then off to paint!

Reckless is in today!!! Throwing it on for a camping trip this week then back off next week to the painters. Gotta finish the fiber-glassing in the trunk, 2 layers down just needs to reinforce the corners with a third and sand/primer inside. Doing the typical 2-tone on the fairing and mimicking the 2-tone from the Voyager trunk on mine. Picking up my THIRD set of bars hopefully tomorrow and putting them on with the RACNRAY throttle mod tomorrow.

With your bars like that you'll have 2 issues. First, you'll likely have clearance issues when turning. I think the ends will hit the tank. Second (and this probably should have been first), without the top halves of the risers, THE HANDLEBARS AREN'T CONNECTED TO THE TRIPLE TREE!!! I see that you have all your wiring/cables/hoses connected but there's no way you'll be able to remain in control just by pulling on one side or the other. They call motorcycles "iron horses" but they really aren't horses at all and can't be steered like one.

Here's what I would suggest. (Mind you, this is just my opinion.) I would bolt on the top of the riser clamps (preferably with the bars INSIDE). Twist the handlebars up far enough so that you can swing them side to side (we call this "turning") without anything hitting the gas tank. Make sure you tighten the bolts up when you're done. I know....everyone talks about wanting to change riding positions on the go. They're not really talking about moving the handlebars as you're flying down the highway. Trust me on this one.

So apparently the Kawi techs decided 5 million ft-lbs with red loctite was a good choice for assembling the screws for the controls so now I have to drill 2 screws on the left side...yay!

My 2011 Nomad does the same thing yours does. Seems to do it more just cruising over bumps and rough roads or going down a small incline in the road it constantly bucks and clanks. Has always done this. Never had a bike with such poor drivabilty. Its not bad on the highway over 55. Very little slop in driveline then. Does anyone know what is causing this.

You have to slightly heat the red Loctite to loosen it up. A lighter is all it should take. I'd suggest that before trying to remove the remainder of the screws from the controls. It would probably be a bad thing to break those off.
