WOOT! I rode my Vaquero in Rolling Thunder on Sunday!!!!
I was nervous since I don't have alot of saddle time on this bike, and I am STILL not confident making sharp turns, but I put on my big girl panties and just did it!!! I am so glad that I did!!! I didn't have any problems riding it through the DC streets with millions of other bikers

I also enjoyed sitting away from my bike, while waiting in the Pentagon parking lot, and watching all the people admire it!!! Yes, you know me....I even took a picture of two of that!!!!
(No, I do not know these people...)

$10,000 cheaper...where did you get that number? In reality, if you compare a vaquero to a roadglide with the same features (in other words a plain jane roadgide without abs) the vaquero is only about $2,500 cheaper then the harley.

Cherri they do grab allot of attention don't they. I work evenings so don't do many bikenights anymore, maybe once or twice a year if i take a night off. However a few weeks back I went to one of our local bikenights, this is a big one that brings in allot of people. we were sitting on the patio eating dinner and my bike was only about 15 feet away. It was amazing how many people walked up just to check it out.

According to the HD website the RG Custom is $19994 + 200 Cal emissions total $20,194
Kawasaki Vaquero with Cal emissions $16799 or a total of $3395 diff with the HD. The reality is that buying the Kawi would generally never involve the full retail price so the difference becomes somewhat greater than the $3395 unless HD is giving better deals lately.

Street Glides & Road Glides around here are listed about $20 - 22k, and when I asked about wiggle room basically almost laughed at.... so I laughed back and left. I bough my Vaquero for 11k plus 7% state sales tax, so if not 10k cheaper, pretty dang close.

actually the price for the vivid black roadglide is $19,499. The $19,994 price is for the roadglide in another color then black, in that case it should be compared to the two tone vaquero like mine which lists for $17,199. As far as the california emmissions I don't live in california so I'm not tacking that 200 on. So in reality your talking about a $2,800 difference. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, just trying to state that his $10,000 dollar difference is way off.

+1 yep that happen to me at couples HD Dealers in VA, I was looking at the Street Glides firm price no room to bargain, so I bought the Vaquero for 11k + 3% tax

Just did a quick search yesterday for a Vaquero online... found one in Arkansas (2011 black, still new) going for $13,499 and a couple in Ohio listed at $12,999. A guy could probably get them for somewhere around $11,000 if he tried.

I know HD's around here don't get for anything less than $15,000... unless your getting a 883 sporster. That's not a $10k difference, but HD gets a bad rep for being high priced and some of their bikes can be in the $30k range with all the bells & whistles. Of course, you can get a Goldwing for a pretty high price too. Just depends on what your looking at.

Keep in mind that the original purchase price is only part of the big picture. Unless you're never planning on selling/trading the bike, resale/trade in value is almost as important. Assuming you keep either bike in excellent condition, the HD will get a LOT more in trade/resale.
