Wow, what a morning. It's amazing to have that much damage all around your foot and leg and come out walking fine.
With that kind of impact, it makes me wonder what would have happened to your leg (and everything else) and a smaller bike like say a Honda Magna? This morning will still be pretty fresh in your memory in 20 years I suppose. |

My wife Pat and I have hit 5 deer with cars in the last 4 or 5 yrs. Until it's happened to you you would never think that they come out at you that fast. Deer is one reason I don't like riding at sunset and sunrise although we all do. Glad you're OK. Best wishes all the way around.

Pablo, Very glad to hear that you are okay. Thanks for the report and reminder of one of, if not the, biggest hazard we face. Hit one in a cage in the early morning hours a few years ago and like you, there was nothing of any kind of warning, it just sprung out of the ditch right into front fender. They obviously don't look both ways before crossing and must not have crap for peripheral vision.

Pablo, I'm sure glad to hear that your injuries were relatively minor! Take it easy and get well quick.
Just Monday night my 17 year old daughter hit a deer in her car. She was only going 50 mph but it busted the front fascia completely in two, caved in the hood, smashed the left headlight assembly and pushed the left front fender back into the tire. She wasn't hurt, just scared real bad. Car drivable after prying the inner fender away from the tire. I love to eat deer but I hate them on the road!

Glad you are OK. My son hit one that darted in front of him this summer and totaled his 1500 classic. Hope your bike gets repaired quickly.

Hey, Pablo, very happy to hear about you not taking a spill. :) That just doesn't happen when deer are involved. You are a blessed man. But just in case it's only luck, buy me a lotto ticket.
Get well. Paul.

Glad to hear that you are OK Pablo.. too bad about the bike, but I'm sure it will be back to new in now time.
I have a new appreciation for the engine guards, after reading your story, plus I had a close shave with a Toyota Tundra last month that ended with bent engine guards but no damage to me, so seems to serve a purpose other than just being a mounting point for highway pegs ! Brian |
