Hey guys (and by guys I think I mean BD and Trip and SWB and Kawi and Bob and all those who have been on the forum for a while),
I was posting on a different thread and wanted to include a link (to yet another thread), but I had seen that some of you were able to post the link but change the way it appeared in the actual post. Somehow I recall an orange link that explained what the link was but didn't have the url listed. Does this make sense and can you please teach me how to do it?
Thanks,
Rich

I'd be interested too. I thought that's what the "insert hyper link" button was for, but I can't change the text. :-/

I think you are talking about how to put a long url (link) in a post without it displaying the actual url. Instead it displays a message like, "Click Here" which will take you to that link if you click on it.

Here's how to do it:

[ url= *******] Click Here [ /url]

Replace the ****** with the url

The “Click Here” can be any text.

Whatever you enter in the "Click Here" area is what will display rather than the link itself.

I had to insert a couple of spaces so that the first line above in yellow would display. Remove the space between the [ and the u and also from between the [ and the /.

It should look like this but with a ] at the end of each:

I started with IBM in 1973 as a Customer Engineer working on Data Entry equipment (keypunchs). Then in the early '80s when IBM introduced their first PC's I got to work on them also. Sure had a lot of fun with those old DOS computers. By the mid-eighties I was working on the mainframes. Spent 23 years with IBM. Then I spent another 8 years with EMC Corp. working on their large data storage systems. Fun years.

Here's another one that CactusJack just told us about:

Look to the left of this text, beneath my avatar and my little Latin phrase...see those 2 icons, right above where it says "Joined: Sept 2007"? One will send me a personal message, and the other will allow you to send an email to me.
