Sorry to hear about your tax issues. That sux big time.

The way I see it you are perfectly justified in ranting against the gov-mint for confiscating your hard earned money and forcing you to violate your principles. My sympathies.

As to the 'cult', now that you have let the cat out of the bag that you are ready to 'join' there are lots of members here that will be behind you ready to push you over the edge, so to speak. Welcome. (when do we teach him the chant?)

Dan-

This is one of my favorite locations for info about car tires on bikes. One of the things you can find here is what types of tire people have put on their bikes. I run the Dunlop SP 5000.

Not that I'm getting in line for a CT, but thanks for the web site Utah, always interested in reading about something I know nothing about.

Now that I'm easing into the cult, what sizes fit a nomad with no problems and no worries?

I have read about religious cults and things of that nature. Seems the members have to give a big portion of their wages to the leader of the cult.
Who does Dan have to send 75% of his wages to? Just askin' ;)

195/60/16 seems to be the most popular. The 205's will fit if you want a wider tire.

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...foTireMath.jsp

Personally I would recommend, and it's my opinion so no flames, a 175/75/16 or like BD and myself run a 185/75/16.

You will need the extra height. The 205/60 is 1.24" shorter than the 185/75 and .64" shorter than the 175/75.

The difference may not sound like much but it is huge when dragging the floorboards or checking your speedo and rpm's at speed.

I've got over 15000 miles on the darkside and still no ill effects to anything on the bike.

That's the kind of information I need now.

I want as narrow as will do the job in a great manner. I don't need to look like NHRA Drag Bike, I just want long wear, and good grip in dry and wet.

I've already gone and read all the reviews on the 195's at tire rack, now I'll go check the new sizes you gave me. Thanks much for the tips. And thanks to everyone else for the links.

BD, one of the things that I was worried about was increased wear on other items (drive shaft, rear end splines, etc. etc.) from the centrifugal force of spinning more weight around. And what if it shows up at 50,000 miles, rather than at 8,000 miles?

Not being a mechanical genius type, I thought I'd wait around until many people had many miles running car tires and just see what happens. Owing a bunch of money unexpectedly, makes being one of the genie pigs, and not having to buy a tire this spring and next spring seem a little more reasonable just from a financial point.

If we're all fixing something at 50,000 miles, I want to be the honorary cult leader for that cult! :)

Now, where's the nekkid women that I hear about in other cults?
No nekkid wimmin, just BD in a smartly pressed oxford shirt and Dockers with razor sharp pleats. Disappointing, huh?
And I make that look GOOD!!!!!!!
