I saw your review and was a little surprised. Of course, I am not a mechanic type or someone that would know how it should be....but generally, I have been very happy with mine...and they made a huge difference for my comfort!

I think I'm going to put my stockers back on an order some 12" or 14" mini apes. Stock bars are 10" so with 12's I'm sure the cables and hoses will be long enough.

For sure getting those bars, just haven't decided on 12" or 14" yet. I'm kinda leaning toward 14", think I'll do some measuring tonight to make sure the cables will be good. Hoses will be no problem, have a place locally that will make hoses on dans for $25, just don't want to have to splice any wiring.

The general rule on the 1500/1600s is that you won't have to change cables/hoses with a 12" bar (depending on width) but much more than that, you'll have to change everything. I have 12" custom made bars (by Don Myers) that have a good curve to them and are a touch wider than stock and my hoses are at the limit. I'm thinking about going to a set of 14" baggers some time and I know I'll need new cables/hoses. Of course, the bagger bars are pretty wide.

Cheri, I'm looking for rear pass floorboards. Where did you get those? did you find them on ebay or through a dealer

I have built several sets of bars for vaquero's and the tallest you can go is 11.5 with no issues I had a set of 12 " bars on my new bike and they just barely fit
I ended up removing the bolt from the brake line junction block to give the brake line enough reach to work
I built a set of 1 1/2 inch bars for my vaquero that are going to be sweet
I ended up making them 19" so they would reach back far enough to be comfortable they place my hands about chest high and about the distance of a steering wheel in a car. They leave me with a lot of bend in my elbows and should be very comfortable

Hey Don, when I get my seat done, I may give you a call for some bars. I am wondering, how tall/far back can you go w/o changing the lines? Any idea?

Not very far
11.5" to be safe
They are better than stock. But not anywhere near what works best for me

Is that the EZ-pass on the right side of the bars, it looks black or is it enclosed in something?
