I'm here from FJR land as well, pmmed and ready to buy a great seat!
Anyone know if the basket weave is slippery in the twisties?
I'm no knee dragger but I do enjoy a good road...
Also, Is the basket weave any less water resistant than their other vinyl offerings?

Chuck:

That's my bike in the pictures on page one with the basket weave. I've given my FJR a nice workout in Rocky Mountain National Park up Trail Ridge Road and to the west on CO 14. No slipping around on my seat and no matter what you hear, you can move on the seat when needed on tight corning for lean angle. I lived in Loveland, CO before moving to Wichita.

Everyone keep in mind... I will continue to collect names well past 100. RDL cut the list off for the GL1800 guys at 125, but the organizer sent in 177 names. Their will always be people that say they are in, but don't follow through. This opens up opportunities for people further down the list. Who's to say how many RDL will actually take anyway!

I may as well join in, I think I'll keep the bike another couple seasons, so I may as well be comfortable.

The list has grown to 28 in two and a half days. Not bad!

I've had some questions about pricing and when this group buy will actually take place.

1. Pricing depends on what you want RDL to build. Go to their website and spec out your seat. Add all the features together for a total price. Best case scenario - subtract 20% from that total. Last year RDL gave group buy members 20% off their entire order, not just the seat. For example... I also had them recover my backrest pad to match the seat. I got 20% off that as well. The discount covered everything but the shipping (and tax possibly if you live in California).

2. Build Dates... I have no idea and probably will not for some time. I just put this together Friday night and I haven't had a chance to call and propose this to RDL yet. I will do that tomorrow. If it goes like it did with the GL1800 group buy last year, RDL may not give me an answer right away as to whether they will even entertain our group buy. I will have to play it by ear on their time clock. Trust me that I will let you all know here as soon as I know. If last year is any indication they will start group buy builds around the end of December and they will go through sometime in February. For background, you can go to the GL1800 link I provided on page one and read through how that one went. It will give you some insight as to what to expect.

41 people and counting as of Monday morning @ 8:00 AM. I'm going to call RDL this afternoon.

A few people have requested that I email them personally with updates on the group buy so they don't have to monitor this thread. There will be too many people involved in this for personal emails, therefore I will not be doing this. All updates will be posted on this thread (definitely) and if I have time, the FJR 1300 Forum and the GL1800 Forum. If you are unable to monitor this thread for the updates, (which will ultimately include when to call in and order) please don't sign up for the group buy.

Thank you,

Mike Williams

All one has to do to get email updates is subscribe to this thread and it's easy to do. Just look for thread tools at the top of the page just above the first post on any page. Click on thread tools and choose to subscribe via email. I understand not wanting the extra headaches Mike. If anyone wants to potentially save a couple hundred $$ keeping the work load for you to a minimum is not asking to much. You've already done more than most would by attempting to organize a list and make the phone calls to Russell Day Long. Thanks again
