Most depressing day of the year

Well, I finally broke down today and did it: the Nomad is officially hibernating for the winter. I actually haven't been able to ride it since November 22, but I couldn't bring myself to winterize it until today. So, the Sea-foam went in the tank, I was able to ride it a little to get the fuel circulated, I put the battery tender on, and the cover is now over the bike.
It was a great summer with my Nomad, as I put on 8200 miles. Of course, I wish there could have been time for many more!
We have about six inches of snow on the ground, and the highs are only in the 10s-20s.
I will now be living vicariously (with envy!) through all of you that can still ride. Please keep us informed of your trips, just please don't rub it in!
Merry Christmas!

Tis a sad day to be sure. But remember how great it feels when the bike comes out of hibernation. You don't get that feeling if you ride all year long. ::)

I too enjoy reading about rides others take while I'm waiting for spring, and PICTURES are a real bonus. (hint, hint) ;)

Fired up the lawn mower and trimmed the grass in the back yard. Was kinda cold. Could see your breath. Did some maintenance on the bicycles so could do some evening rides with the XYL. Had to ride the Nad as I promised it I would ride it every day in 'Dec. (New years resolution to ride every day in '09 as well) Sucks to live on the left coast!

PC,
I do get to ride longer, but must agree with Bosko's statement about "absence making the heart grow fonder". I hope that you do enjoy your winter and that you'll be able to bring the bike out of hibernation earlier than you think.

I just returned from a 1400 mile round trip to New Orleans. It was cold but still a good ride.
My sympathies to those of you that can't ride in the winter. I hope you get to make up for it next year.

I hope it's a short winter for you guys up in the cold country. It will feel great when you pull the cover off. Take care.

To all of those in your situation, from those of us in the south, I sincerely want to apologize for our ability to continue to have fun and ride our bikes. I hope the winter is short and that you are able to ride as soon as possible.

In the meantime, on this morning of 57 degrees, I enjoyed riding to work and feeling the wind on my face.

OP-Yeah, we got about 5 more inches today so I fired up the snow blower after school. But, we don't have nearly the white stuff that shows in TC's picture. Wow! At least I don't have to mow the grass for a few months:)

I really shouldn't have boasted about being able to ride every day. We need a few feet (20 or more) of wet snow in our high country to help fill up our very low reservoirs come spring. been a very dry fall/winter so far. I would gladly give up a few riding days for a couple of major storms.

You can gladly have our snow, KB! Fuel costs are going down, maybe we can arrange to have it trucked out there!

Wouldn't that be a sight!
Hang in there PC, this too shall pass.
TC, I'd say that I like the picture, but I'm not the one who had to take it. (I see that you're ready to fend off any vikings and other pillagers when they show up. :) )

rksaw , thats ok , I took the pic and I like it. The pic of the snow, not the actual snow ;)
I assume you are refering to the old tools I have screwed to my garage. Lots of folks up here do that. I don't know how the practice got started.

May not be as farfetched (sp) as it sounds. Imagine, train loads of snow bound for drought stressed areas. Or, pipelines/ tanker trucks from snow melting plants. Hmmmm. I bet the farm I am not the first to think of this. ;)

Does Sea-Foam make a fuel stabilizer similar to Sta-bil? When I read that S-F was put in the tank and run, I began to wonder.
