Texas Hill Country ride

Well, Spring break is almost here and Me and My Kelli are planning a little ride through the hill country to shake out the cobwebs. She's been working hard and deserves a little 2-wheel therapy .

Me, hell, I'll take any excuse to ride. We are planning to leave here on Saturday the 7th of March and return on the 11th. Any one going to be in the area, we might get a chance to say howdy. Let us know. Can't say just yet where we'll land, probably as many places as we can.

All that's needed now is a little cooperation from the weather man ::).

Don't think I'll have time to get the Nomad all checked out after the wreck, before we leave. Soooo, keep an eye out for that orange Honda, Skeeter. Not my first choice, but glad to have it in a pinch.

I think we'll load it in the toyhauler and set up camp in Boerne. Then take a new direction each day for the next 4 days. Gotta hit Garner, 337, willow loop, luchenbach, and maybe around the lake. We'll see where the wind blows.

Sorry, thought you guys knew. Take a look @ "Never saw it coming" posted in safety section. Still a little sore, but the trip to the Hill Country was worth it! Fantastic 4 days. Just way tooo short.

Texas Hill Country ride

I am heading out to the Three Sisters (335, 336, 337) through Texas Hill Country next weekend. We will only be there for one full day, with a full day on the road in both directions from MS. I've never been there on MC, so I am open for a few suggestions, recommendations, and warnings ???. We will be taking tents and we will be looking for a decent park to spend the night.

nonhog....
If you're camping out in the Hill Country, one of the best places I've found is in Camp Wood, Texas. It's a camp ground on the Neuces River (I can't recall the name of it, have to look it up). Also there's good camping at Garner State Park which is South of Leakey.

You may be hard pressed to get all three sisters in on one day, so leave early.

Feel free to read some of my trip reports to the Hill Country. Especially the one from last Fall.

If I remember right, your crash was in a curve after crossing a hump in the road?? How's the old bod doing? I know I'd still be hurting and would be for some time longer. I fell through my daughter's carport roof changing the metal a few years ago. The fall was 11 feet onto concrete and I hurt for over 6 months.

All good terrebonne. Thanks for asking. In fact, I called one of my riding buds today (he's also my sort of personal trainer) and told him I was ready to pick back up on my weight training Monday. I think enough of the kinks are out to get back on the bench.

I only got about 6 weeks to fit my tux.

Trip, is it Lake Nuecess Park in camp wood? We were close to that but never went to check it out. I liked Garner quite a bit, but found Lost Maples to be really nice. Didn't get to stay there, but looked it over. Maybe next trip out we'll call that home.

Last year we went with another couple and rented a house in Leakey for 3 days. It's actually cheaper than hotels when shared and a heck of a lot nicer with the porch, big private yard and river right out the back door.

I wll be recieveing the necessary parts to put the Nomad back together in a few days. I really am blessed in this regard. Only needed lower lefthand bag support and rear left crash bar. Oh, and one saddle bag handle. It works, but got a little scraped up. Don't go messing one of these things up if you can help it. The handle costs more than either of the other parts. Didn't get into any of the paint. Those crash bars are awsome! I gotta give Kawi credit for a good design there.
