Engine Guard/Crash Bars

Are they engine guards/front crash bars the same for the 1500 and 1600?

The engine guard on my 2001 1500 is one piece (the top part goes from one side to the other). I think the engine guard on the 1600s are 2 separate bars (one on each side of bike).

I want out to look at the guards and they are two bars.

To clarify, I want to purchase some of the lower fairings. However, I would like to search for a used set before spending the $800 that premeux charges. I wanted to know if I am limited to those made for the 1600 or will those made for the 1500 also fit.

Im guessing that they will fit either bike, but the best thing is to send Serge an email and verify it for sure.

I believe he sells the same lowers for both 1500 & 1600. The two bars are quite a bit different! The lowers do not fit on the 1600 as nice as the 1500 - I have them on my 1600 and a guy at bike night has them on his 1500 and becasue the bars are slighly farther forward and straighter at the top they seem to fit nicer.

I doubt the 1500 will interchance with 1600 or the other way around for these bars... That doesn't mean you can't make one fit the other though..

The 1500 is one piece and the 1600 is 2..
But this isn't really the question is it.

My best guess is you want to know what fairings will fit over or between...

mac,
Yes. I want to know whether the lower fairing that premeux makes will fit on both the 1500 and the 1600.

What's up with Premuex's website?? I have been trying for several months and can not get past the front page , it always says it is under construction. I would love to get some more info and prices on fairings and such but the site never seems to be up

Well I don't know. I was confused reading the first question, and asked since I thought I was confused. This is a state of mind for me.

For those who are interested, I contacted serge at Premeux and ask if the lowers are the same for the 1500 and 1600. He replied that as long as it is a Nomad, the lowers will fit. I took that to mean that the lowers made for the 1500 will fit on the 1600.

Serge's website is up and down time to time, its been like that for at least five years that I know of. I have his phone number at home, and if you call you will get a hold of him. I'll post it tomorrow for whoever needs it.

You can also email serge. I have emailed him a couple of times to request information about his products. I have always gotten an answer within 24 hours. His email is serge@premeux.com.

I found these on craigslist and pulled the trigger. According to the add, they are premeux.

Thanks for all the info guys. Patrick, are you in the Army at Fort Polk? I spent a little over a year assigned there back in 1987 and 1988.

Yes. I volunteered to come back to Fort Polk. This is my third tour of duty in Louisiana.
