brake and turn signal module

I want to set up my brake and turn signals to work at the same time. What modules do you all recommend and does anyone know where I can get the red lens for the 1700 Nomad. The lens on the 1700 are different than the 15 & 1600 Nomads. Thanks.

Not really sure what you are asking for with brake and turn signals working at the same time. Do you mean when you apply the brakes the turn signal lights come on?

I had the Kuryakyn plug and play module on my Nomad 1600. There is not a plug and play version yet for the 1700, so you would have to go with the wire in version.

http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go...ID/39/IMID/732

It worked flawlessly for me.

A few people have used this one as well:

I have not come across any red lenses for the 1700 yet, you may have to use transparent model paint and paint the stock ones red.

Yes. Turn signals work like running and brake lights.

Check out this one. You don't have to change the lenses to red with this kit.

I use the Priority Lites Safety Coupler by Sound Off Recreational. Its is well priced and works good.

I do not mean to change the subject but there is something I have to ask.
You have a very beautiful motorcycle and I have read all about the 1700's and I am impressed but here is my question...
Why is the tongue of the drivers seat so long?
Does it serve a purpose?
I have not yet seen one up close but I am just curious.
Thanks and sorry if I changed gears on everyone.

Good question. I wondered the same when I first sat on mine. I think it is because the "dash", speedo housing, is so short. It really serves no purpose. It is almost like my 2004 HD Ultra Classic. At first I did not like it but I have gotten used to it and don't even notice it anymore. The seat does set you closer to the bars and tank.

Ringadingh, did you have to change your rear sigs to Red, or is it legal to have Amber running lights on a MC?

Ahh I see.
Yes the seat does look like it sits you closer.
Thanks

brake and turn signal module

The 1st month after I got my 08 Nomad I purchased the Kuryakyn Triple Whammy run-turn-brake light kit. It worked great and made the bike a lot more visible. After about 2 weeks my left blinker quit working and the right side would just come on solid.
I removed the kit and still had same problem. I took it back to the dealer and my turn signal switch on the handle bars the wires going up to it were burned up. The Dealer had to replace it all. He said they see this happening quite often. He said the gauge of the wire is to small to support the current draw when your sitting at the long light with the brakes on and the blinker blinking. The good news was I got it repaired the same day because he started stocking switches and wiring harnesses for most models because of this issue. I did get a really sweet looking set of bezels for the rear signals out of the whole experience for only $109 bucks. Anybody want to buy the Triple whammy minus the bezels real cheap let me know.

The lenses have been changed to red. You can buy them on Ebay or you can paint the inside of the amber ones. There are also clear lens available and you can use a red bulb.

I'm using the LED lights from Electrical Connection as Yellow Jacket mentioned. http://www.electricalconnection.com/...star&sport.htm
I'm also using the Kisan Tail Blazer Brake Light module which flashes the brake lights, fast at first and then gradually slower for 4 seconds and then holds the brake light on. http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products...ct.asp?Item=TB

The LED's from Electrical connection get silconed onto the turn signal lens and act as both running lights and brake lights. Effectively, the turn signal is amber, but the running and brake lights show up Red. They are real effective at night especially in combination with the Tailblazer.
