Favorite mod's to your Nomad

Ok, here is a idea generating thread. This will help the newbies on this site chose what kind of mods they might want to do.

What is your favorite modification you've done to your Nomad, and how much time and money did it involve?

Is there a mod that you regretted doing and why?

Doing the de-baffle on the stock exhaust is my favorite so far. I love the new deeper tone. It cost me less than $30.00 to pick up the dowel, hole saw, and can of high temp black paint.

My favorite mod is the paint job I did last winter. It set my bike apart from all the rest. Since I did all the work, and I'm good friends with the local auto paint supplier, it cost me about $250 and about 30 hours.

My next favorite mod would be VH pipes (with ultimate baffles!). I love the sound! The pipes came on my bike and the UB I made. They ended up costing me about $20 in aluminum.

So far my 2 are the paint job and my Russell Day Long seat.

I don't have friends :'( with a shop so the painting cost me $2,000.

The seat was about $1,100 but I have not regretted it for 1 second.

I'll get back to you about the pipes; fuel controller; Chuckster dual air mod, risers, coasters and larger lowers that are going on in the near future.

So far!!!!.............................It's either the fairing and trunk, and/or the paint for the fairing and fuel tank,....OR !! it's the cruise control. The fairing and trunk were considerably more than the cruise control. I think the C.C. was about $30.-$40. been so long I don't recall.

Well, it's been a long time since one of my first mods that made a difference and was my best at the time.
That was my enlarged lower wind deflectors I made like the Moxy style some have bought. It cut down on wind buffeting and made the riding experience much better especially on highway rides. 2nd was my ignition relocation (thanks Gadget) to the side cover. COST...($0). Also painted them to match the bike.
Next for safety was my 4 way flashers, again as I had the parts from my junk yard raiding days..cost ($0) including making the box on the left handlebar. Now most of my MODS done on the bike are my favourites but I like those mentioned first as they didn't cost me anything and all had a great benefit to me. My most recent mods including the fairing and trunk will turn out to be my new favourites and upcoming performance mods may take that place.
I guess too many MODS have been done to narrow it down further, but isn't that a good thing

For me, it's been the auxiliary fuel tank in my trunk. The only complaint I've ever had about my Nomad is the range, so I added a second tank to increase it.

Fuel tank? So that's what you call it now, Daryl? I'll bet it's full of Fat Tire.

Major mods to my 2007 in order of preference:

1. Audiovox cruise control, about $30. Spent probably 20 hours on it, several of those just crafting the mount for the control panel.

2. Reckless fairing. $365 including s&h. $1000, when you add paint, stereo, speakers, wiring, etc. Maybe 6 hours.

3. Scootworks Supertrunk III, $1100 when figuring paint, lighting, wiring, backrest and Wompus rack. 12 hours, mostly designing and installing the lighting system.

I really like the idea of this thread since I'm a newer Nomad owner and need to 'accessorize'. As of now, my '08 is still stock off the showroom floor but I have plans. Just a few that I know I'll want before this summer are: Auxiliary power outlet, light bar w/ driving lights (not sure which setup for this yet), rear luggage rack, highway pegs, and maybe some type of cheaper cruise control/throttle lock. For now, that should keep me busy spending money and annoying my wife. From the sound of things so far, looks like I'll need to do something with the pipes before too long as well. My wife doesn't think it's funny though, I told her when I bought the bike that it already came with everything on it that I would need for those long trips.

1. Larger lowers, homemade from plexiglass. 2. Auxiliary headlights - makes a *huge* difference at night! 3. Cigarette lighter on handlebars. 4. Caddman air filter mod -- I found the Scpectre air cleaner kits an the K&N filters on sale at Amazon on sale for $25 for all! Made it breathe a lot better. 5. V&H dual baggers 6. Cobra fuel processor. 7. Visipath headlight modulator

Yet to do: 1. Russel Daylong seats. 2. Visistop brakelight flasher

By far, the Nomad Trio: Intake, TFI and Exhaust. Well worth it for the performance increase and the benefits to the motor.

Runner up would be my Clearview windshield.
