Gear Ratios

Apparently the Japanese and Americans have different ways of figuring the gear ratios. I understand the American numbers. Can anybody inform me with an Americanized version of the Japanese numbers for the Voyager 1700?

Harley advertises the overall gear ratio which includes the primary chain, transmission gear and rear drive belt, all combined. So in your example the HD engine is turning 10.347 times faster than the rear wheel.
Kawasaki splits it up and gives you the ratios for each component, so for a Voyager you take the primary 1.515, the 1st gear ratio 3.077, and the belt 2.250 and multiply them all together to get 10.489:1 overall.
Looking at specs for a 2017 HD Roadglide Ultra, the 1st gear overall is 9.593:1.
That shows the Voyager has more gear reduction in 1st than HD, so if the engines produce the same torque and the bikes weigh the same and the rear tire rolling radius is the same, the Kawasaki should pull away from Harley in 1st gear.
