Old style flames, real fire, two-toned or single color? Which style paint would you rather have? I thought about painting real fire on mine but I still like the old style flames. I bought an airbrush and have been playing around with it. It's harder than it looks. LOL. :-/ Once I think I have the pattern down right I may try a helmet and go from there.
Here's some sites with good samples: http://www.badasspaint.com/paintwork.htm http://www.crazyhorsepainting.com/gallery.shtml http://www.customflamepainting.com/ http://www.3dcustompaint.com/art/bikes/index.html http://jeillusions.com/gallery/gallery_jobs.php Zoom45

I personally can go either way on a flame job. I like both kinds (real & traditional) but it depends on a couple of things. First the project, then how much area do they cover and how well they were done.
I have seen some cars and such that I thought would look better with either less flames or not at all. Also some flame jobs are better than others. I would look at every picture I could find on the internet of a flame job and other paint jobs and decide exactly which one I liked first. Yeah its copying somebody else, but chances are the two vehicles will never be side by side so who cares. Mine is two tone, so I stayed with that theme, but I have seen some solid Nomads on here that look nice too. I was looking for a black one originally and I was going to go with a bright green as a second color. The whole Monster energy drink theme only with a different design. I love the Monster car from the NHRA. I know I haven't gave you a definite answer, but I don't think anybody can. If you are married, ask the better half first. She has to be seen on it too. All in all do a lot of research first. Maybe post up some pics on here when you have it narrowed down to a few and we can give feedback. Paint is to damn expensive to waste if you don't like it when its done. Hope this helps, Bill ;) |

Just at a quick glance I like these two.

Zoom,
I wish that money were not an issue in my life, because I have some interesting paint ideas in my head. I'd actually like to see a "blood" scheme. I want to have a black base with scarlett blood dripping over it, but where the blood has "dried" it looks pearlescent snow white (the blood fades from scarlett to the pearl). Just my .02, Rich |

I love the look of flames, and those last 2 that you gave a link to, do look really good . I prefer the traditional type flames, and painted mine the same silver as the trim of the bike. They aren't the best flames out there, but it was what I wanted. I only wanted a few, and didn't want to go overboard, and flame everything. It basically comes down to the individual, and their personal tastes. ;)

I prefer 2 tone or one solid color. If I did flames I think just a little goes a long ways.
But I may not be the best guy to give style advice....I still wear wing tips with my bell bottoms.

I agree with rksaw, if money wasn't and issue I would have some wild ideas about paint schemes.
I may even have extra tank and fenders in case my mood changes. But, since I can only afford the stock colors... I love it.

They are too warm for the Arizona Desert? Should be shorts and sandles?
You thought you had me didn't you? How do you like that for a save?

My only problem with flames is they are done to death - I actually prefer the racier sweeping lines on baggers. I'm getting ready to mount my fairing and this is more of the style I plan on going with.

I came up with this design for my bag doors and had the strips removed and filled in.
Just to a bit different, I think it turned out great

Chuckster,
When Trip was talking about the calendar, I listed my favorite member bikes and your's made the list particularly because of the unique paint job on the saddlebags. I really like it and think that it adds something special. Rich |

Thanks Rich ;) I really appreciate that. I had a few different idea's but this stuck with me the most. I've had quite a few people say they like the design.

Went through the link for jeillusions and seen a design called Reverence, (Sweet!!!). I've made up my mind and will probably go with this design and have my Nomad painted.
The design, to me, will really make the chrome stand out and the blue lizard lights I have already installed. |
