1913 Harley

I know this is about a Harley, but it's still motorcycle related.
Thought it was pretty interesting.

I like seeing the old bikes, it shows how much things have changed over the years. I doubt you would see any 500 mile days on one of them machines.

Thanks for the post. I've seen snippets of those things but never anything so complete.

Thanks for posting this. I love and collect old pictures and vids where possible.

When one thinks about the "roots" of mechanical engineering... it is absolutely amazing from where we have come.

Again thanks. ;)

An amazing bike and a great video. Really enjoyed seeing all 9 minutes and 46 seconds of it. If I had to do all he did to get my Nomad started I would be on the forum every day that I rode asking what I had to do to get it started.

I posted earlier that I love the "old" pics... and I do.

However, I did some checking and the person in the video said there were only three 1913 Harleys known to exist. It seems that may not be a true statement, as I have found several others "out there". He might have underestimated in his statement.

Above is a pic of another that Mike from American Pickers owned.

Here is a 1912 Indian. It shows the typical condition one would find a bike in from that era.

Obviously, a lot of work to re-condition one of these things.

Greg - I went back and listened to the video again and the guy in the video mentioned it being 1 of 3 "v-twins" that he knew about. Your pic of a 1913 Harley doesn't appear to be a v-twin like the one in the video. There must have been different engines that year. ???

Restoring that 1912 Indian would be a lot of work, and finding out how it really looked back then would be tough. Coming up with the missing parts and fixing all the bent and rusty parts will make that quite a project.
