The best handlebars for the Nomad are the ones it was made with.

You can add a set of risers I make and also to make the bars a bit narrower you can cut some of each bar end with a pipe cutter.
Check my web site for pic and info.

handle bars or risers

I just received and installed a set of Chuckster's 3 inch risers on my '03 Nomad and they make a huge difference in the way it feels. I had thought about going to a narrower set of bars, but found that it was not needed after installing the risers. I am 5'8" and the 3 inch risers allow me to set up straight with my arms slightly bent. After installing the risers this afternoon I rode for about 2 hours and it felt great. Huck

Snarley: VulcanE (Cliff) put the bars from the 09 Nomad on his 1600 and accomplished what you describe you are looking for. Go to a dealer and check them out.
I like the wider bars that the 1600 has so I went with the riser extensions but if you prefer the narrower and more pointed back style and want about 3-4 inches more rise than your stock bars take alook at what Cliff did.

Ross, the 1700 handle bars are the exact same width as the 1600, they are just taller, and have a little more pullback, ;) here's a link to my original thread......... I really do like this set-up.

Cliff, Are they really as wide as the 1600 stock bars??? Wow!!!When I was getting ready to put the fairing on, I considered getting rid of my risers and copying you. I went to dealer and did a bunch or setting on 09's and they sure felt narrower good, but narrower. Must be the difference in the overall rise and pull back that makes them"feel" narrower to me.
Snarley, sorry to miss-inform! But you should still check out the 1700's bar, to me they felt exactly like the change you describe wanting.

Look at this photo showing the 2 bars from above, the width is the same, but due to the extra rise, and the different angle of the pull-back, it moved my grips approximately 3 inches closer to me, at the same elevation as the 1600 bar. The bar at the top of the pic is the 1700 bar, the other is the 1600.

Nothing feels as good to me as ape hangers. These are 18" without risers. They put my hands at about shoulder height. They are also 1 1/4" diameter and feel more solid that my old 1" bars.
