Stebelized a texter-- Got 'em good
I was cruising along in the right hand lane and noticed that, up ahead, I was going to overtake a mid-sized sedan. There was a string of cars in the fast lane. I was enjoying the ride and in no hurry, so I settled in, waiting for the string to pass.
When I looked back from the left mirror, I noticed the sedan was a quarter way onto the shoulder. Was he pulling over? No, he came back in. By now, I had slowed down to match his speed. Then he drifted to the right again. This driver was either drunk or pre-occupied. When the string finished passing me, I moved to the left lane and saw the cell phone in his left land as I moved up. He again drifted right, and his window was open. I got up even, looked directly at him, blasted my Stebel to get his attention, and yelled, "Pay attention to the road," reinforced with a left-handed gesture that attempted to communicate that he should look at the road. I saw him jump and open his eyes very, very wide. I know the Stebel shocked him. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a wee-wee accident. As far as my yelling: At 65+mph, with my bike's noise and the wind noise on his own vehicle, I'm sure he heard something like, "Hf ajd a asdpf qwpwoe mphhf!" and my left hand gesture probably looked like that over-the-head gesture that Chimpanzees make. For as long as I could see him in my rearview mirror, he stayed in his lane.

I love it! Not a texting thing, but a funny horn thing: while driving through town, we came up on a woman who had set a pizza on the roof of her car to open the door. After opening the door into the lane of traffic, she slid her hands under the pizza box to place it into the car. Coincidently this was timed perfectly with us being right there and blowing the horn. All I saw in the mirror was her throwing her arms up in the air as she sucked closer to the car for fear of being hit. I never saw how high the pizza went...

Cell phones are out of control here as well, even though its illegal to use one without hands free here, you don't have to look hard to see people on them all the time.

It's illegal to text and drive here now. About time they passed that law.

It is illegal to drive and use a cell phone in Germany but there are too few police on the road to really make an impression. Plus the fine is too puny to be of any use. Now if the fine were to be about the equivalent of $500 in Euros, people might pay attention. Plus then the various states would hire more police.....and that would be fine by me.

Still it happens all the time. I saw a woman with 3 lap top like devices also taking on the phone doing 40 MPH on I-95 not very long ago. I was driving a 1 ton dump truck and could look down and see what she had. I passed her on the right, which is legal. And she was in the fast lane.

It's illegal in Georgia too.
But... driving down the road the cops will pass you with a cellphone in their hands texting while steering with their knees... at over 70 mph!!!!

They have tried to pass a similar bill here during every state legislature for the past several years. It never goes anywhere. My guess is our elected folks are probably as guilty of this as anyone else and don't want to give it up. The City of Phoenix passed their own law, making texting and driving illegal in that city only, but I don't know that anyone has ever been prosecuted for it.

Yep, I had to buy the stebel air horn when I got run off the road one car right after another. They didn't even hear the stock horn. They REALLY hear my stebel now! I am actually thinking about getting a second one to really wake them up!
