High milage Nomad

Went riding yesterdayyesterday to J&P Cycle and i met this gentleman from Connecticut that rides a 2001 Nomad. As you can see he has over 210,000 miles on it. Told him about the vba. Hope he joins. He said he bought the bike new and he had a daughter in Wyoming so he rides to Sturgis every year then goes to see his daughter

The other person I met there on Vulcan was a guy a 2014 Vaquero that has had it for 3weeks. So different stories that being written by these two guys. Love it!!

Wow , 210,000 miles . I knew there was a reason why I bought a nomad . His looks just like mine . I sold my fairing 2 years ago and went with the factory windshield.
J&P cycle : Great place to order parts .

WOW! 210,000 miles. Is that the highest mileage documented on a Nomad or is there a member here who has more than that?

Glad to hear these high mileage reports. Did he happen to mention if it was the original motor or if he had any major motor work done it?

256,000 miles the highest documented I have heard of. I forgot his name but I have seen the maintenance log on that bike

Gotta chime on this. That's impressive! Have 11,er, 12K on mine now. I wanted to believe this is a great bike. It may replace my H. Trying to decide if I want two bikes, and where the Nomad fits in the scheme of things. Had a Kawi 750 years ago. Beat the crap out of that. Did 130 with no helmet and broke the tach. Now I am sober and enjoy the Nomad very much. Like to think I made a good buy, even if it wasn't exactly the bargain of the century at 7 for an '07 with 11K. What do you think?

VaRider07, no I agree that you didn't get the buy of the century but hopefully we both bought fine machines. I've had a bunch of bikes over the last 45 years, to include three Harleys (still have one) and bought my 07 Nomad this winter. I'm thinking it is a very fine machine that will give me many miles of good service.

Rasta, I like to read stories like this. That's one heck of a lot of miles. My friend Mike who convinced me to replace my Harley with a Nomad has three of them, the oldest with about 140,000 miles. His west coast Nomad has about 60K. Mike's a long distance rider, an excellent mechanic and swears by the Nomads.

I found a 06 Nomad that is very clean but has 40k miles. Also looks like a small oil leak but from reading here it looks like the clutch plunger shaft seal which is common & a easy fix. I couldn't see the leak but the owner mentioned it. It has V&H pipes and a power commander. I usually look for & find bikes with around 20k so thought it may be a little high on the miles but I can get it for $4400 so figured it was worth it.

I am no mechanic & don't know what to look or listen for but it sounds good so will prob pick it up tomorrow. 40k is no big, just depends on the prev owners I guess. And that is a pretty good deal at $4400?

Been riding a vstar 1100 for a few years so can't wait :)

Thanks!!
