Bar??? I have an '06 and don't recall seeing any "bar" crossing over the pipe. I gather "the bar" stops the dowel from going in the exhaust pipe? If so, I'd cut that out with a Dremel and proceed with the removal process of the baffle. Mine came out" slicker than snot on a door knob"
But the guy to ask is Brad,.... blowndodge "Darksider".

I have an 07 and no bar was present on my exhaust.
If you are not the original owner maybe it is something the guy you bought it from put in there. I have heard of this practice to make the bike sound a little different. I think all 1600 Nomads have the same exhaust. I would cut the bar out and proceed with the debaffle.

have an 06 also and didnt see any bar,, unless you are looking into the baffle itself, maybe there was one that went across the baffle inside but that all i can remember seeing when i debaffled

That's right, there is one that goes across the baffel itself. That's what you pull on to get the baffels out after drilling.
I dont see how that could be in the way. Just put the dowel in as far as you can and drill away.

I didn't have a bar to pull mine with. I had to grab the end of the baffle with a pair of vise grips.

OK, maybe I am thinking of the baffles I put in my Drifter.
I am going to shut up and move on now. :-[

I didn't notice anything inside the baffle on my 06. I had to grab the end of the baffle with a pair of vise grips. One side came right out the other wouldn't move. It feel out somewhere on the Dragon.

My '08 didn't have a bar anywhere. Just follow the instructions on the thread by BD. When you use the holesaw be sure and use a cutting oil.

And drill slowly with ear plugs man what a sound!! The dowel should only stick into the exhaust 1 inch. The perpose of the dowel is just to center the hole saw.
