Saddlebag chaps for the Nomad...PICS

Didn't know if anyone would be interested, but I bought some saddlebag chaps custom made for the Nomad today off of ebay.

There's a couple in Arkansas that custom makes these chaps and in volleying emails with them today, I decided to create an "Accessories" page on the website and include them.

Feel free to take a look at http://www.kawanow.org and click on Nomad Accessories from the left menu bar.

I bought the ones without the studs and with pockets.

Hey Trip, I like the idea of the accessories page. I am looking for a drivers backrest that attaches without infringing on the passenger. One that the support comes up between the front and back seat. If you run across one please put it on the accessories page.

topcat,
The only riders backrest that I can find so far that meets those specifications is the Utopia backrest. I believe their website is at www.utpr.com

I'm thinking about getting one later, but I'm still looking.

GH,
Haven't received them yet. I'll probably get them in a week or so. I understand that they are totally scratch resistant underneath. If you get studs installed, they add an extra layer to prevent any scratching. They also have metal rings sewn in on the bottom to fit on the bottom cylinders of your hard bags.

The way I look at it, if they do scratch my bags a little, it can't be worse than the scratches they're getting now.

Trip, I wouldn't trade my Utopia back rest for any available accessory. But then I still have the extras too. ;) I rode 950 miles in one day and I'm sure I could not have done it without that rest.

Yea, I went ahead and purchased a Utopia riders backrest too Wayne. I bought it Saturday and I should get it around the middle of August. After looking for a month or so, I couldn't find a better backrest than the Utopia, unless I bought a Mustang or corbin seat to go with it.

I had a Utopia on my Honda Magna and liked it very much.

Trip; I have to agree; I looked for some time, before getting my Utopia, and I am very happy with it.

Dosen't the utopia rest require you to come up "through" the passenger seat? To me this would cut down to much on the area the passenger has.
90% of my riding is 2-up. Do you guys ride 2-up and if so what does your passenger say about the placement of the utopia?
Thanks for any response,Tim

yes, you do have to come up through the rear seat; right at the front edge. I looked around, and could not find any that didn't do that; even the mustang seat/backrest combo is that way.

Trip; do you know if they make these saddlebag chaps to fit with the top racks? I like my racks, and don't want to just cut holes in the new leather to install these.

dragon57,
I would imagine you will have to cut holes in the new leather....but, you can email them and ask. Delinda can tell you at phcustoms@hotmail.com

FYI; I talked to Delinda, and she said they will sew on the pockets in the front area, (inside crash bar), if anyone wants them there. I have the chrome racks on top of bags, so I can't use the pockets up top. I would imagine they would do them on the rear, as well....

I got the saddlebag chaps in yesterday from PH Customs. But, Ruby Earl is in the shop getting new rubber, a radiator coolant change, final gear oil change and inspection.

Should have her back tomorrow and I'll slip the chaps on and take a pic.

Yeah, I was wondering how they turned out too! Do they fit real tight so they won't vibrate off and get caught in the rear wheel?
