You should have put it back to stock if they see you modded the air intake they could try to get out of covering it since you altered the Emissions system and if you added a fuel processor even worse.

It's a leak down test, not a blow by test. It isn't a lot harder to do usually than a comp test, but in this case there will be a little more labor since turning the engine by hand has to be done. I will be curious to the findings.

Well the bike shop did the leak down test and yes I had a problem. Kawai told them to tear the motor down, which they did.
They told Kawai what the bike needs and are waiting for Kawai to give it a thumbs up and ship the parts needed.
New cylinders, new pistons & rings and all new gaskets!
So far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it is all covered by warranty or so they tell me.
I will keep you all informed when i know more.

Glad this is going to be covered under warranty. That will be costly. Be sure and let us know how it all goes.

I'll probably get flamed by others but so what.

Where's the HONOR in doing that? You should have let it as is when you took it in.

Your alterations MAY (notice I say may) have been the cause but you want Kawasaki to pay for it. If a corporation were to pull this on you, all hell would hit the fan.

What a proud up-standing, straight shooting guy!

Yes, it pinged a lot ever since it was new. It wasn't too bad if I burned high test but still pinged.
The bike was all stock until I did the chuckster air mod.
I was able to burn regular gas for the first time, It still ping but less than it did when I burnt high test!.
A buddy loan me his cobra fi2000 to try, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
No pinging what so ever. I could burn regular gas, give it throttle and No pinging!!!!!!
I then started hearing a ticking from the rear cylinder, I'm not a mechanic but it sounded like a valve.
The bike shop told me Kawasaki's do make noise, don't worry about it,.just drive it hard!!!
Since the ticking,............ I noticed I was losing oil. Every oil change I was losing more oil but the ticking didn't seem to be any worse?
No smoke, at night under heavy throttle I could see some but nothing to be alarmed about.
At the time I took it in I was burning over 1.5 liters of oil for every 1,500 kms.
The bike shop tore the engine out and I have bad pistons and rings,........so far that is all they told me.
so that's about it.

If possible get some pics. I think ping ate that engine right up. Ping does metal cutting damage when it is inaudible, so when 'we' can hear it, it's really bad.

This ping is the result of a very overly lean mix, and you will want a Cobra fuel modual asap after the repairs, or a TFI and either one must be set up correctly, one pot at a time.

What exhaust is on the bike most?

The bike is still all stock.
I do have Joe's air mod and I have bought a cobra fi2000.
You are right about the ping, I did notice shavings in the oil screen the last 3-4 changes!
I cannot get photos but I sure can give updates.

Kawasaki possibly would try to blame it on the mods. With that being said, my dealer asked if I wanted V & H pipes installed before taking it home. When I complained to them about pinging, they wanted to install and PC III fuel modual and dyno it on my dime. They will also install Baron's air kits if you desire. Would the dealer intentionally sell mods that could possibly cause major engine damage? What would happen if it started burning oil after the dealer installed the mods? Would Maw Kaw try to blame it on the mods that their dealer installed? How would that cluster be handled? Seems like a possible double standard to me. I don't blame you Pooker, I would have put it back stock also.

Dealers sell aftermarket everything but I'll bet when push comes to shove Kawasaki would reply "if it's not genuine Kawasaki" your out of luck!!!!!
