Fuel Processor?

First Class information guys! Thanks!! Now, I figure I'll go with the Cobra FI2000, is that an ok choice? After that, should I get and intake system of some sort...I'm just trying to find the order to go about the mods. ex. 1) Fuel processor 2) ? 3) ? . It might have been spelled out in a reply, but I'm a list kind of guy. Awesome help everyone!!

Good choice on the Cobra or TFI. After the processor is installed, it's your choice of what mod comes next.

Yep, would definitely do the fuel processor first, since these engines tend to run lean from the factory anyway.

If you do the exhaust first, there's probably no need to adjust the fuel mix, since your air/fuel mix will be about the same. You will definitely want to make a minor adjustment after you do the intake mod, since you'll be pulling in more air and leaning out the mixture.

Fuel Processor?

I did my exhaust first and had no problems..sounded great..cobra true duals. Then I took the reed valves out..no difference except I didn't have extra crapp on the bike. Next was a cobra fuel processor..hmm..big difference..better fuel mileage and performance. This winter I removed the solenoids, removed the intake from the throttle body on. Plugged all nescessary items and added a cold air intake. Haven't ridden it yet due to snow/ice but have noticed a great difference in throttle responce while running it in the garage. I know I will have to redial in the fuel processor..no problem..looking forward to riding season...Bdog

Fuel Processor?

I installed the PC3 and the cad man mod a couple weeks ago. I already had Vance and Hines Baggers installed. Before the install the bike would stall seconds after starting. That would happen evertime. After the install the bike fired right up and was smooth as a kitten. We were in a garage about 50 degrees at the time. We have snow on the ground so I havnt been able to take it for a real test ride.
Talking with my local dealer mechanic he told me that if I did only one thing to my bike install a fuel processor. I would notice a night and day difference. I only started my bike and noticed a difference.

The fan would kick on every time I pulled up to a traffic light, now I can idle for several minutes in hot weather before the fan will kick on. Much less heat roasting the nuts in stop and go traffic. I'd say every stock Nomad should have a fuel processor installed just to take care of the excessive heat. They are set to run too lean to meet EPA standards. My dealer wanted to install a Power Commander when I complained of the pinging issue. On my dime of course. There was also a noticeable increase in performance. Felt like I gained a few horses when twisting the throttle pretty hard.
Cajunrider,
I have to agree with every comment you made here except the 89 and 87 octane and that is only because I haven't tried any octane lower than 92 yet. I also have the TFI with only debaffled stock pipes. No other mods were needed and I like the sound of the debaffled stock pipes plus the stock pipes are better quality than any after market pipe available and they look good too in my opinion. As far as performance goes I've ridden with a co -worker who has a 2005 Nomad with the PC III fuel processor, the Caddman intake mod and Vance & Hines pipes. He told me how much more power he gained after adding all 3 mods. It cost him about $800 for the parts. I paid $193 for my TFI, the debaffle cost me $6 for a can of High Temperature spray paint and 1 hour labor. His bike can't pull away from me in any gear. Mine is a 2007 Nomad and I love it. My TFI settings are, 3:15-6-1-9. If I still remember correctly yours were close to the same settings weren't they?
I'll try the 89 and 87 Octane this coming spring and let you know how it ran on the lower octane.

I haven't looked at the settings on my TFI for several months. If my memory serves me right, my last settings are 3:15 - 3:30, 5, 1, & 9. You were pretty close. I did notice that in the upper elevations, I had to back down on pots 1 & 2. It was too rich causing constant backfiring on deceleration and my mpg dropped to as low as 23 mpg before lowering the settings. When I got back closer to sea level, I reverted back to the original settings and all was good again. I haven't installed handlebar risers yet, which I desperately need, but so far the fuel processor has been my favorite mod yet and the best investment for the cost. I can't speak for the '09 and 2010 models, but for my '07, a fuel processor is a must to really appreciate how smooth and cool these engines can run.

Fuel Processor?

I went with the Aeromach Risers and the Aeromach handlebar adapter/clamp which mounts the F&S tachometer centered directly over the handlebars. It looks great on there and the risers do help some with upper shoulder and neck stiffness. The Phat II risers have about an extra 1/2" of pull back compared to the Aeromachs. Some guys have a problem with the Phat II risers rubbing the Nacelle when they turn and one guy showed me where the Phat II riser was touching his key when turning. He was afraid it would accidently turn off the engine while riding so he ground off some of the width on the key so the riser wouldn't touch it.

Since I have no experience with fuel processors let me ask...
Do all of them need to be manually set?
Thanks

Yes, they all have a "default" setting for your particular model, but for the best results, they need to be tuned.

Does anyone who has pinging have a tach on their bike I'm wondering what gear and rpm the pinging is worse at?
