Fuel Processor?

TFI or Cobra?
Which is better/easy to install and maintain?
Where is best place to buy? best Price?

I want plug and play. I would rather not have to splice wires.

I am doing the caddman with chucksters plate and only have debaffled stock exhaust on a 1600 Nomad.

thanks,

I think installation is the same on any of them. Plug n play = you unplug the injector connectors and plug the fuel module connectors in series, and connect a wire to the (-) battery terminal. Not hard at all.

Dobeck TFI vs Cobra is probably a matter of personal preference. I have the Cobra and like it fine.

Neither one is better than the other. You can't go wrong either way. Go for price.

Fuel Processor?

the difference is the number of pots on Cobra = 3 number of pots on TFI = 4

Number of pots actually needed to adjust on both = 3

Difference is in price.

Does the Cobra come in Plug N' Play? So far I have had 2 TFI's, so I don't know, and while I know TFI can come in Plug N' play I haven't installed one yet.. Just solder the old way.

For that matter can you get Cobra in NOT Plug N' Play?

Does Cobra have 4 leads? TFI does.

Cobras can be purchased P&P. I have a cobra, works great, I live by the motto " keep it simple stupid", 3 adjustments and a 10 min install, no lost maps or computers needed, you don't need to do a full tank removal. I went on price when I bought the Cobra, that's why I have it. 2 months old used for $100, couldn't pass it up.

I will probably go with the Cobra Plug and Play because local cycle dealer carries their stuff and a motorcycle mechanic here, Don Ray, carries their stuff.

I would like to install The Cobra also but I can not purchase here in California. I quess I will wait for Street Vibrations in September in Reno to Purchase directly. Unless there is another way around this Wacko State's rules. DJ

Gene , one of these days it is going to be you popping that gas tank off to check a few things..

Being retired and paying labor at todays prices are nuts! Get the Cobra unit if it is cheaper and the TFI if it is.. learn about the bike as you install it.

There are a lot of guys here than can detail for detail tell you what tools you need and how to set this stuff up.

You can buy a hell of a lot of decent tools for the cost of several hours labor...

Yeah BD lots of guys in Cal have fuel moduals, so I don't understand..

What I don't know is what you would do about the tube to the carbon canister if you yank the the black plastic air cross over tube, and still live in Cal..

My best guess is you would run that tubing to what ever the backing plate is going to be. Should be pretty easy i guess.
