Easy helmet lock idea

Not an original idea but thought I'd pass it along. The Voyager locks under the seat are, to me, not reasonable. These are simple and affordable. Gun locks I picked up at the sporting goods store. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1400338826.513667.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1400338840.545886.jpg

What if you don't have the bag rails? Besides, That looks like it would scratch the paint. No thank you.

Yep, seems like it might wear the paint on the hard bag in that area over time.

Considering that I rarely have to lock my helmet, my helmet has soft material where it would touch the bag, and it would just be sitting there not moving around I think this would work just fine. Though I dont have rails, but the same thing would work around a bar on your backrest, or engine guard. Nice idea!

I've never in 40 years locked a helmet. I guess thieves know what a cheap bastard I am.

The padding of the helmet does rest on the paint and thinking they shouldnt rub the paint if the helmet is on your head when riding.

There are other places on a bike that will work.

What about this? tuck it up out of the way on the bars, nice shiny chrome. Probably a little more expensive than the gun locks (after all, it's from Kury), but maybe a more elegant solution. And you won't misplace it like you would a loose cable.

Uh . . . Check me on this . . . But my Voyager has three really secure places to lock up my helmet . . . The trunk or one of the saddlebags . . .

That is what I mounted on my wife's old bike. Put it on the handlebar next to the mirror. Put the helmet over the mirror and lock the d ring in the lock. Worked great and kept the helmet upright so if it rained, the inside stayed dry. I always just let my shorty on the pillion or loop the strap through the handle on the luggage if that is on the bike. Never had an issue.

Those Kuryakyn's are nice too! I've been looking for a place to hook'em when we hit a Nat. park or slow scenic ride. My buddies Wings and Ventures have locks on the back/bottom of their trunks that work while riding. Our Luggage rack, Trunk and Side bags are stuffed on a trip. Maybe could mount a couple under the Tour pack? Maybe!

I'm with Napom on this one. It goes in the saddlebag.
