Fuel Processor

Gotta a question about a fuel processor. If you debaffle your exhaust do you need to install one of these things or can you go without it without damaging the engine? ??? This is on an 07 Nomad.

Mikey,
A fuel processor is not required for debaffling or changing to after market exhaust. If you have a problem with pinging (pre-ignition) like I have on my 07 Nomad when using 93 octane gas then a fuel processor can help eliminate or reduce the pinging. The other need for a fuel processor is when opening up the intake to accept more air, then extra fuel would be needed to balance the air/fuel ratio.
Hope this answers your question.
Glenn

Not neccessary, but you can gain some performance, by having the motor finetuned better than it comes stock.

mikeymo,

Not to say that the other guys are wrong but you should know that you may require one. Every Nomad is different. Many have done a debaffle and had absolutely no problem. I did a debaffle this spring with the intent of riding it for the season and then next winter modding the intake and installing a processor. Turned out that the bike started running very lean after the debaffle and started pinging on 91 octane fuel. I added the tfi and the bike runs better than it did stock and the debaffled exhaust actually sounds better too. Another added bonus of adding a processor is you can disconnect the extremely noisy cold idle solenoids.

macmac says that these things run a bit lean stock. I am inclined to agree after my experience.
can't remember right now where I got mine but it was $191 free ship and if you call before you order and tell them you are with kawanow you get 5% off.

The Nomad is already built LEAN. After you change things with mods it gets leaner, you do need a TFI or Cobra for best results. Running it way lean can damge the motor.

First, buy a Nomad. Second install TFI or Cobra you need. Third, buy whatever bling you desire.
