While cruising this afternoon on a straight and flat stretch of blacktop my curiosity finally got the best of me. I brought the Nad up to 105 mph and backed off. It didn't look like it was going to pick up much more speed than where I was. My curiosity was more than satisfied at that level and I didn't push it any further. Is this about average or should it have easily done more? ???

With the speedometer error, you had it up to about 94! I have gone over the century mark once or twice. I lack the guts, or rather, I have the common sense not to do it for very long.

Just a few seconds past 90 on the speedo was enough for me too. Funny how things I didn't give a second thought when I was a teenager scare the hell out of me now. I guess you can call it wisdom or as you put it CJ "common sense". :-/

guess i still got the ignorance of youth, have pushed it to 120 on the speedo twice and felt like i still had a little left. At 110 the wobble starts pretty bad. Not something i recommend

When you hit 105 (indicated) in 5th that's about it on a stock Nomad.

Shift down to 4th & it'll go 10 MPH faster though.

5th gear is reeeealy tall.

I've had mine up to 100 with out an issue. My KZ1000 would break 130, but it wasn't as steady.

I have had mine up to 102 mph according to my GPS and it hadn't topped out yet.

I think about these guys on the Hayabusa's and the like running up to 170 - 180 mph. No fear or no sense or both. I always had a thing for speed but not that bad!

Last fall I was on a very long flat road with absolutely no traffic around at all, as far as I could see, I held it open untill it wouldn't go any higher in 5th gear. It showed 116 on the speedometer. Im guessing it was about 103-5 actual. I'll take my GPS with me if Im ever out that way again, to find out for sure how fast it goes.

The Nomad may not be the fastest bike on the road, but at 100 MPH it feels like it'll go 100 MPH forever, and be rock solid doing it. You never feel "airborne" on a Nomad.

I took my wife up to maybe 102 once (112 indicated) and she had no idea how fast we were moving. 80~85 was her guess.

Nomad is really solid at 100. Like CQ said, it won't go much faster than that in 5th. If you are gutsy enough to drop it into 4th you can squeek out a few more MPH. Actually this is valuable info if you ever need to pass someone or get more power to get out of somebody's way. Drop to 4th and hit it.

I don't forsee the situation where I need to get out of someones way while I'm doing 100 mph.

Mine always seems to know how fast we are going and I don't think she let it get there, although she's happy at 80 (indicated) on the interstate. Maybe I should tell her about the speedo error so maybe she would poke less often. Probably wouldn't matter since she goes by her gut as well and I should be considering primarily her sense of comfort, I ride solo enough, when I have take it to about all it would do at around 107 indicated in 5th.

I saw recently with my windshield laid back and mild mods 118 in 4th last week. That's about 106-107 real time. Was absolutely rock steady like on rails.

It will cruise at an indicated 100 all day long easily. real easily...
