Clutch replacement
I'm at 10,700 miles on my 2006 Nomad and now I feel my clutch slipping when I hit the throttle hard (feels like it drops a gear).
Should I have my clutch changed to O.E.M. parts or is there a better assembly to use? I ride fast and hard and 2 up alot. I can really use some advice. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

10,700 miles doesn't sound like very good clutch life! In my old drag racing days on motorcycles, Barnett made the best friction plates and drive plates.
From what I've heard, you should use the 1600 Mean Streak spring (not really a spring anymore) as it applies more pressure. Also some have used a product called Judges Washers. These are washers that nulify the "slipper" function of the Nomad so when you downshift fast the tire doesn't lock up momentarily. Legend82, I have over 20,000 on my 05 and have ridden mostly 2 up and me and the wife are not little people.
What type of oil are you using cause some of the auto oils with friction modifiers will cause the same symptom. |

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll be going to my dealer's shop this weekend and hopefully resolve this problem. I'll let you know the results.

Update date on the clutch problem.
Took it to the dealer and he's replacing clutch assembly (covered by warranty) They also agreed that this should have never happened so soon. I respect a shop that sticks by its products with no fuss!!! Gotta love it. |

I hope mine back my warranty up as well. Since at the rate I am putting mileage on my Nad, I should have over 50,000 miles by this time next year.
